Forums - PC Discussion - Chrome vs. Opera?

Can anyone give me some updated scoops about which one is the better (faster) browser?

I dont know i use firefox and i heard a lot of great stuff about Opera lol im about to give it a try,

Ive never tried Chrome. I mainly dont trust google so I refuse to download their web browser.

I use Opera and I love it. =)

i'm using opera right now, and i have chrome on another account, i would have to say chrome is faster and better

I would say Opera. It has a proven track record and is not in beta like Chrome is. That and the fact that Chrome is based of rootkit advertising disguised as innovative GUI browsing.

I use Opera for a long time now and I tried Google Chrome.

In overall, Google Chrome is faster to open and got some nice features. Personnally, I prefer Opera for the design and how complete it is has a browser.

I know that there were a leak in Chrome with the page titles of a big lenght that caused a memory leak that hackers could use to put a nice little trojan with that flaw. I supposed they corrected it, I didn't read the update notes for ages regarding Chrome.

Chrome is fast and simple.

Opera is a bit more complicated, but offers a higher level of customization.

Chrome is fast, Opera tends to be slow.

I love Opera, but prefer Chrome due to it's speed.

We'll miss you George.

Chrome is currently the fastest browser available and it cost about nothing in RAM. BUT, you won't necessarly surf faster over the Internet because of the browser you use. Opera is still faster to open from a cold start then Firefox or IE.

Don't use Chrome it's just another form of google spyware.

If you want it i suggest waiting for open-source variants build using it's code.

As a Mac user I haven't had the chance to test out Chrome, but I believe that Opera has always been among the fastest browsers. Currently, though, the javascript engine in Chrome (V8) and the upcoming Tracemonkey engine for FF3.1 are faster than the javascript engine in Opera, so that gives them an edge. But as a standard web browser, Opera is fast.
