Forums - Nintendo Discussion - nintendo believes the tide will turn for hardcore gamers next year

I don't understand it why they didn't just build a WII with a HD DVD drive anyway. Look at the price of the 360 right now. Wii is still more expensive with only DVD, a format which is practically "dead".

If by "dead" you mean controlling over 90% of the market, then yeah, DVD is a rotting corpse.

Theres plent of great 3rd Party games next year. Only stubborn fucks wont admit it and say it looks like shit and will use waggle because its on Wii.

I dont care next year will be awesome. On top of that I dont have all the great games that have been released in the last 3 years for Wii.=)

Fixed. I'll grant the games are coming, but the internet is littered with the dead hype of games that never delivered their goods. Odds are good several of these games will pull a Haze.

You know, it's pretty sad that many people dump on Cammie just because of E3. It wasn't even her choice, yet people blame her, it was Nintendo's choice. It's just like shooting the messenger. And to all those who deny that there are good games that will come, well your loss. I for one actually can't wait to see SMG2 as well as others :D

Is anyone here surprised by this?

It's called the Blue Ocean strategy. You start with the expanded audience, and then head upmarket. Being as you have a solid foundation in the Blue Ocean, your competitors will be unable to compete and will be forced further upmarket, which in turn gives them less ability to compete next time Nintendo tries to push them further

@Nick..

you are my saviour..thank you..nintendo makes core games..not Hardcore..since the meaning of the words has been littered thanks to the children these days.. >_>

That's the second time in two pages you just randomly assign a meaning to "hardcore". If any company has hardcore fans it's Nintendo. Period. Hardcore games don't even excist.

@dib8rman: After posting the post i adressed to you, i thought you were meaning the "fanboy" comment. She's new in the industry and apparently not familiar with the "slang" yet.

@trestres: Well i'm pretty sure that's not the full list. You'll need to understand Nintendos strategy first; Nintendo isn't doing as it expected in Japan, so they announce a few games, so that they can sell systems "in advance". In Americas, the supply have been heavily ramped up, so they propably are doing the same, in order to keep the demand high (while until now, Nintendo's been holding back due to supply issues). In others, Wii already is the best-selling Nintendo home console, exceeding SNES by nearly 50%, so it doesn't need similar promotion to keep things "as is". Nintendo will have other games coming, if you noticed, there wasn't a single strategically important 1st party game (although, S&P2 is debatable).
Wii starts its 3rd year, which basically means, that it's time for the 3rd parties to out games for it, 3rd parties have been a part of Nintendos strategy since the beginning. This isn't the first time Nintendo mentiones Madworld and Conduit in their PR, this is Nintendo sending out a message, that this is what Nintendo wants 3rd parties to do. Right from the release of Wii, Nintendo has said that they're leaving some type of games for 3rd parties to do, which without a doubt, are the "violent" games.
Considering that, it's quite a possibility that Conduit had a little help from Nintendo to get Sega as a publisher and Madworld may as well be "inspired" by Nintendos "lobbying".
This may not make sense at a first glance, but considering financially not-so-well doing Sega is currently playing as a part in Nintendos strategy, it seems likely that "something", along the lines i mentioned, has happened behind closed curtains and that if Conduit and Madworld will be successes, the birdmen will follow.

From what I can tell so far, this game looks like it is going to flop. The Conduit is just such a bland title and literally sounds like shovelware. Looking at the back of the box would just make gamers say, man wtf is up with these graphics compared to the HD consoles.
It has a good chance of failing, but who knows. Maybe hardcore gamers are already buying the wii and are aware of this game.

Shovelware??? Have you watched any of the gameplay? Read the previews of almost every gaming website and how much praise their giving  the early stages of the game? Or have you been living in a hole for the past year?

Second fail in your post is where you commented on people not buying the game because of HD graphics. If thats the case then why has the Wii sold almost the same amount of systems as the PS3 and 360 combined? Why have games like Mario Kart outsold HD blockbusters like Halo 3 in a much shorter time frame? I'm a graphics whore myself, but the quality and experience of the game is #1

This game has a very small chance of failing. This game not only has the attention of core gamers but casuals alike.
