Forums - Nintendo Discussion - nintendo believes the tide will turn for hardcore gamers next year

@woopah: Well, there wasn't much to guess that it was Cammie Dunaway.
So, this was propably an interview? Badly written on the part of "hardcore", since i don't really recall Nintendo PR using the word.

@Onna: You intepreted hardcore/core badly, since i don't really know which one you are meaning; the elistist pricks or main gaming audience. For the latter, we do know what we want, but that doesn't exclude RRR or Carnival Games.

@kingofwale: She propably didn't use it as a "hardcore" game, the writer did. Then again, by the looks of it, it seems more like being a flashy generic shooter with online play - just the kind of game that the "hardcore" wants. It's not going to be as flashy as the comparable PS360 games, but apparently the closest thing so far on Wii.
Besides, screwing the "hardcore" would be opposite for the strategy that Nintendo has taken, which means that they want to cater for everyone.

@Onna: That's not their strategy. Besides, HD-DVD drive would have increased the costs and wouldn't have helped anything to graphics. 360 has DVD and its games require a lot more space than Wii games. So the HD-DVD would have been there for nothing (and that, if something, is dead).

ah...I'm sure she mean CORE gamer..not HARDCORE

there's a huge difference there..and yes..Punch Out and Sin & Punishment..as well as The Conduit are great core games..while Mad World is more HardCore..

but I'll tell you..most hardcore will still hate the Wii..regardless

the Core on the other hand will enjoy it..you like it? you're core.. XD

I want to know more about the Conduit other then the controls and the visuals. Everywhere you look theres praise for those components, but not much else. If ever there was a game that needs a demo it's that one...

sidenote: I hope the games that Marvelous and Jaleco have coming in '09 don't fall under the radar...

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

@senortaco: Well, that's why Conduit is used as an example and is watched as it is, since it's using the "PS360 formula". How many PS360 games out there are praised for anything than visuals in the previews?

?

There is no single hardcore. Someone can be a hardcore Tetris player or a hardcore Wii Sports player.

@ senortaco

well its also supposed to be the best online experiance available on wii (possibly). as for single player i guess we will have to see how much the ASE comes into play

All Cammy had to mention was one game: Oboro Muramasa Yotoden.

I wonder if Sega is going to produce the next F-Zero like they did for GCN version...

First I got to see it before I believe it and I agree with Mike, though there are quality 3rd party games available on the WII (think about Okami, de Blob, Boom Blox, Blast Works, yeah its great!, Zack & Wiki) but selling like crap comparing to the install base of the WII. Its an utter shame. Games that are shovelware titles, think of Rabbids and Carnival Games do sell. The morality of all this? Most people only buy this junk as they're party games and look so much fun with the family, while we as (hard)core gamers know better than that.

Onna,

Plenty of excellent games fail on all platforms.  It's an unfortunate reality that's not exclusive to the Wii.  Look at Okami on PS2?  BG&E?  There's hundreds of examples over the last 30 years.
