Why was wii music hyped?

Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why was wii music hyped?

E3 was the hellmouth, every single ad or tv promotion was eternal damnation. Shiggy doin the rounds on the interview circuit was salt in the wounds
Low sale figures are the ice block of pain relief on a game of pain, misery and generally bizarre un musical music

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I said the game would suck and sell well. The game is awful and we will se how much it will sell.

It was hyped? As far as I am awayre it was only slaughtered by reviewers and forum goers (yours truly being one of the most outspoken against it).

Well Wii Music is something you get under the christmas tree, so i wouldn't just yet call the game a flop. Besides, it's on track to 300k first week sales.

this game was hyped, alot of people seem to be ignoring that, but they were giving it wii fit numbers. I cant call them fols, because i didnt know what to think of the game prior to release but there is no way they can get away with saying there was no hype

Joke thread. Toastyboy is online but isn't replying to all the people who are shredding his thread to pieces (and rightly so).

My Greatest fear, not that its likely to happen of course, would be that Wii Music has ruined any other Wii brand like WSR. I know its not gonna matter at all chiefly because the market already associates the Wii with sporting games anyway but its food for thought.

Yeah, that's my fear as well. It may have damaged reputation of the whole brand, just like some poor Sonic spin-offs had back in the day.
