No, but I'm just saying why is the PSP selling 1.5 3rd party per unit, and DS is selling just under 1? That's a 50% diffrence. Wanna get me on the PS3 vs Wii 3rd party?
several reasons: 1 - most of the buyers don't care for the game. they choose it by saying nintendo on the back. 2 - most 3rd party try to be a nintendo-cheap-look-a-like and fail 3 - most 3rd party haven't yet found the best way to deal with DS stylus 4 - most 3rd party don't make games with the DS stylus in mind you probably think that the first option is the main reason. i'm towards the other three.

I'll stick with 3 and 4. There arent that many Nintendo look-alikes. (there's a few but not that many) Basically you just said the Stylus isnt the most useful in gameing, especially when graphics are restricted to 2D. I am not saying Nintendo isnt makeing great games. But what happens... when they stop? Looking at Nintendo's sales over the last year. I think Nintendo has surpassed EA. How long can Nintendo keep up making good games... being one of the biggest companies in the world?

I didn't say that. And even if you read that in my words, well, games sold on the DS would contradict it. nintendogs and brain training have 20 million units together, and they depend on the stylus. "When they stop making great games"? That would be paradise for 3rd party...

I give up. Not a single person has gotten what I said. Not a single person. EDIT: let's do it for the PS3 vs Wii and see if everyone says the PS3 sucks, and Wii is god, even though there's about a 25,000 unit diffrence.

I see your point, it just doesn't matter. DS has a bigger install base, and that's what developers see. Go ahead, compare PS2 to Gamecube games using the same method. It's really just a waste of time.

Yeah the PS2 blows the GC out of the water in 3rd party. Gotta rember, all 111million consoles arent in use today. Consider about 1/3rd are actively played. and 1 out of 10 of those buy 1 new game a month. My point is % of game sales. 3rd party to 1st party. GameCube follows DS and Wii as well. Want to do % of game sales as well? I'm just saying. Why is the numbers skewed so bad in favor of 1st party on Nintendo. Wii - 2million nintendo games sold in japan. Wii - just over 500,000 3rd party. PS3 - about 200,000 sony games. PS3 - about 500,000 3rd party. Explain the PS3/Wii in 3rd party sales % then.

No need too do that, what does it matter if nintendo platforms have low 3rd party sales? Nothing because they sell anyway, and low 3rd party causes less consoles too be sold? Not true, look DS.

I don't think anyone said that Monster Hunter's numbers weren't big. Infact it seems the general concensus that they're pretty damn enormous. Is it the beginning of a second rennesiance for the PSP, don't know. Does it somehow mean that third party developers generally have more success on the PSP than the DS in Japan, no. But once again...damn those are some big numbers.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I'm just amused, that no-one sees the merit of 3rd party sales. PS1 and PS2 are based around 3rd party sales. My point is, Sony is contiunueing high 3rd party sales per unit sold. Nintendo is continueing low 3rd party sales per unit.

Well it's pretty obvious. Nintendo makes good games, and lots of them, so people buy them, and the third parties just get a smaller percentage by default. Nintendo also has the advantage of being the most familiar with their hardware and dev kits. In the end it doesn't matter for the DS anymore since the third parties still sell more volume with a cheaper production cost so they'll continue pumping out more titles for it now. The Wii, of course, is another story, at least for now. Looking at your numbers, I'd be more concerned with why Sony can't put out as many quality games themselves as Nintendo does, since I don't think the third party games are really inherently better or worse on either system, DS users just have Nintendo games in addition to choose from knowing Nintendo is a strong quality game brand, so if anything they're just getting more quality games.
