Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Let's be honest, The Conduit is going to suck.

Let's be honest ... I am going to suck at the Conduit. That's because I suck at all FPS games.

As for the OP with the link to the "review" (preview) talking about how poor the game was -- (1) it was an obvious overreach by the author who had admitted he had played ONE level and (2) it was high praise compared to what most UK publications generally say about the Wii.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

And when it flops, Wii will be a laughing stock, people will point and say "see that's why there are no hardcore games on Wii" and publishers are going to be even more cautious about big-budget games for our little white console. Whose fault is this? so you're saying you're a wii owner, right?

Yours. You decided to hold one single game up as our only hope of FPS gaming. You decided to talk about The Conduit as if it were the next Half Life or Gears of War. since when gears of war was graet shooter? it has solid online that's all

Just sober up for a second, stop looking at the screenshots, and consider who is making this game.

Here's a list of AAA games High Voltage has made:

(crickets)

Guerilla Games AAA list: NONE, NADA, ZERO, NULL. just some craptastic shooters and license games and killzone psp that is average game and yet people are hyping killzone 2 like it is going to be next Goldeneye.

Here's a list of FPS games High Voltage actually made original content for:

HVS makes bad games, not the worst - I'm sure they're one or two steps above shovelware, but they're bad.

and you don't see that they were making only licensed games ordered by publishers? ok so now let put aside developers past and all the hype created only by wii owners(not publisher/developer kind of hype we see with ps360 games that make gta4 looks like next Tim Shafer game) conduit won huge amount of awards for its E3 demo and presentation , they released gyrorstar that scored pretty high in most reviews. HVS is making this game thanks to their own money so how they would want to release a crappy or even average game?

And yes, it's true they're making an honest attempt to become a legit gaming company. They've done some great things graphically and control-wise. They're putting their hearts into this game, but come on, it's their first real try, and putting all of your Wii hopes into this one game is RETARDED.

Not convinced? Consider the latest hands-on preview:

http://www.gamesradar.com/wii/the-conduit/preview/the-conduit/a-20081113141123952039/g-2008041813828831009

Our beef? That it plays like a glorified tech demo.

A corridor facility that culminates in our hero, Mr. Ford, delivering some gun justice to explosive barrels. Once more with feeling: explosive barrels.

Hell, even Samus’ dull bit – the genero Olympus – had the decency to give us space battles to watch through the windows. There are no windows in corridor world.

...level design that would make Doom 64 snicker.

Save your hopes for when Valve decides to do that Wii project. We all know this platform has everything needed to create the best console FPS, just don't judge it by an over-hypped, cliche-ridden game from an unknown developer.

Well, if you're not counting MP3 as FPS, I think Medal of Honor Heroes 2 is generally regarded as the best on the Wii.

Hates Nomura.

I tend to agree with you, Frybread. I have no hope whatsoever that The Counduit is going to be a good game. It's not so much based on what the developers have done before, but from what I've seen of the game. It seems that they have tried to emulate all the worst parts of games like Resistance and Killzone 2. In fact, I haven't heard them brag about gameplay at all. Only graphics. Then again, I haven't been paying that much attention.

It IS nice that they're trying to do a good graphics engine on the Wii. It's really nice. Good job people! Just don't forget to turn it into a good game. Many FPS developers tend to forget about this.

This is invisible text!

Beast Rider, Too Human, Wii Music, Lair, Infinite Undiscovery, and others I can't recall right now. All games that I wanted to buy, that turned out to get lower than expected reviews. It didn't kill me. If the Conduit sucks, I won't buy it. I mean it. It won't kill the Wii, and it won't hurt the fans. High Voltage will just lose a lot of sales and credibility. That's it.

I'd like to think a few people, myself included, are pessimistic optimists or we're simply cautiously optimistic. I want this game to be good, but I'm not making any bets on it. :P

Since this is becoming the subject of this thread, to tell it honestly killzone 2 have lost its luster since E3 2006 anyway. The only ones hyping this game are hardcore SONY fanboys that somehow this game can be a system seller. But even fanboys of PS3 knew its game over for them, better switch to 360...

That's definitely what I plan to do.  Once your favorite system doesn't sell well enough its obvious that you have to move on to another one.  It's what I like to call the "total toolbag who follows general public opinion without a single bit of selfworth and can't make a decision on what he likes more without looking at sales" system.  It's worked well for me up 'til now, so I guess I'd better keep to it.

Its the truth, the reason why the PS3 isnt on 20 million mark yet, dont let the brand loyalty blind you. Why would you buy a console when there is another console which is cheaper that have the games that that console have? Multiplat games like COD 4 and more exclusive games than that console have like fable 2, Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 and have more features than that console have like xbox live?

Attention PS3-only owners: yushire actually knows what you want better than yourself! All PS3 owners should proceed to trade in your PS3 for a 360 because it is preferable to youshire.

I'm with Torillian, just stop. Please, stop.
