I am not so sure. And even if there is one, I have a feeling the fact that PS3 is Blu-ray inhibits Sony from lowering the price very much. So my questions for all of you are do you think there will be a price cut, how much do you think Sony could cut the price, and if there is a decent price cut how would Sony accomplish that(an example being taking away backwards capability)?

 Sony can accomplish a price cut by making the case of the PS3 cardboard instead of plastic.

After 2.5 years Sony should have reduced the manufacturing costs on enough elements by a large enough ammount in order to support a $300 price on their system.

i think it will take it longer, right now they are expanding the library and price cut like 360 had its better saved for the third year, when they have GT5 uber exclusive and FF13 HUGE in japan.

Over the summer I read that Sony lost $3 billion on the PS3. I don't expect Sony to be able to do too much for a long while.

In 2009, they have no other choice but to do that. In order for them to close the gap, they need a price cut. The price cut will definitely happen in 2009.

I agree with who said drop to $300/$400 by mid 2009 like summer maybe.

They should be able to get manufacturing costs down. But they still need to make profit if they're going to be able to release a PS4.

Sony needs to drop the price at the right time and seriously think about this. Anything different would be suicide. They don't need anymore blood to be left behind in the water.
