Microsoft purchased a good victory.

Sony spent just as much this generation, so that's really not a good argument.

I'm not sure that I mentioned Sony anywhere in my post, or that Sony wasn't guilty of the same thing...

Do you mean someone else they were victorious over? I'm getting sick of this whole MS buying victory. It's a stupid argument. Sony has spent plenty of money for second party exclusives, which isn't a whole lot different than paying for third party exclusives. The only difference is the publishers name on the box.

It's business, adapt or die.

I get the vibe that Microsoft is just wanting to monopolize the gaming industry. You may remember back when, when microsoft was taken to court for "supposedly" monopolizing. Even though they were cold-heartedly doing so. If Sony were to fall out of the gaming industry, Microsoft would then go after Nintendo. If Microsoft beat Nintendo somehow, most likely MS would just try to buy them out. To take it a step even further, if MS was the remaining gaming division most likely we would see outrageous prices, just like all of the X360 accessories, operating systems, ms office programs, etc. You have to look outside the box to see it. This is why I wish that Nintendo and Sony were the only gaming companies out there.

Well yes, thats exactly whats happening.

Microsoft is what is stopping sony from its "dominance" over the gaming market.

Whats going on? Well were to begin.

They have stolen every single game that was considered a playstation franchise developed by any 3rd party studio(yes stolen, Im so sure that SQUARE didnt decide to release STAR OCEAN 4 a massive RPG on the XBOX 360 exclusively all by themselves)

They have made sony gain a terrible image in the gaming industry

They have tricked consumers into thinking the XBOX 360 is the superior machine, because the original XBOX was better hardware wise

They created the catch phrase "Wii60"

They have dropped the price to MASS MARKET price, even though that might have but them in the red.

All I know is, Microsoft wants SONY out of the gaming industry, that has since been there goal since the original XBOX, and im sure they will offer 2-3billion dollars of losses for that to happen.

Buisness is buisness, and guess what, cheating is the perfect way to win.

can you explain how they cheated?

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

Okay...

So again, what does that have to do with my inital statement?

MS bought a good victory.  I didn't mention Sony in it, but that doesn't mean they're not guilty...

Chillax much?

Yes, Sony bought themselves into the market by securing important established third party franchises (like Final Fantasy) and getting exclusivity for newly created hit franchises too, like Tomb Raider and Resident Evil which both started as multiplatform games.

Nintendo didn't buy themselves into the industry, because at the time the NES was launched in America, videogames were dead and thought to have no future. However, after becoming marketleader, Nintendo put pressure on third parties to stay #1 (either develop games exclusively for Nintendo systems or don't make any games at all for Nintendo which was a big risk back then because Nintendo held such an enormous console marketshare).

While Sony has definitely done their fair share of moneyhatting, that's only a small part of it.

The massive shift in third-party support from Nintendo to Sony has mostly to do with the latter having a larger install base and better sales all around, lower development costs, and the fact that Nintendo didn't exactly give third-party developers the best treatment available.

Consoles owned: Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PSP, DS, PS3

leo-j - You're not exactly old enough to remember the history of what Sony did to enter the gaming market anyway.

Never argue with idiots
They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience

It's half sony's fault that they are losing, it seems people tend to forget, how arrogant sony was in 2006. It's a good lesson to them, consoles should a cheap, affordable fun.

Yes I completely agree with that statement, and sony were cocky and stupid thinking that people would get two jobs for the PS3.

Id love to make a thread on it, but this is an entirely different subject.

I mean, if they didn't rush the console, (crappy launch). Making ps3 really hard to program for, (bad ports). High price, lack of games for at least most of a year sony would have been in much better position. It's only been recently that ps3 hit it's stride by fixing most of issues so I should blame sony itself for chocking themselves. This year was great improvement over last year. I can expect 2009 improvement over 2008, like 2008 was from 2007.

Leo-j, you're being overly dramatic.

Chill out some.
