Forums - Sales Discussion - So let me get this straight, Microsoft is chocking sony to death

"Hello Sony and Microsoft fans. The Wii is kicking butt in the console sales and it will sell more than the combined sales of 360 and PS3 by the end of the current generation. Why do you guys keep bickering over second place? Best placed losing console system or something? That is not much of a prize. The Wii is taking more and more market share away from Sony and Microsoft every passing day."

Yeah, the Wii sure is doing awesome. It can't even get above 30,000 sales a week in Japan and it only has 1 game in the top 10 in Japan this week while Sony has four.

Nintendo got cocky and thought that they could release any old games on the market and an underpowered console and be the victor. People were buying the machine when it was having shortages and they didn't know what they were getting (most of the nongamers thought the Wii was just a gaming machine as powerful as any other, but now their discovering that they were wrong and Nintendo is learning that the new crowd of gamers -- the nongamers that made a huge success out of Wii Fit, for example, just aren't interested in bad music games and (un)funny animals. The PS3 will pass the Wii before this gen is over.

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.

Yep, you're totally 100% correct. How could we not see this coming?

Even though the Wii is outselling the PS3 in Japan (not to mention all other regions), it doesn't matter because the PS3 is still doing better.

Since you know Microsoft's plan for their next-gen console, you also can read the minds of the "nongamers" who bought the Wii without knowing what they were getting. These people are clearly stupid. Who buys consoles without knowing jack shit about them? Oh yeah, it must be Wii owners.

Thank you for telling us that Nintendo released a comedy game about animals. All the "nongamers" will go out and buy it because it's on the Wii.

And the last sentence is the most true prediction of them all. We all know the PS3 will make up its (currently) 19.5 million defecit and win the console, because that's just how awesome it is. And how sucky the Wii is.

Too right my man. Since you're such a great predictor and not a fanboy, everyone on this forum already agrees with you.

 lmao

Of course competitors are trying to outdo each other. It's business. The people in the business probably view it as just that while fanboys take it on a more personal level.

With MS, I see them as the company that has overpriced OS and Office (often lacking quality) apps because they can control the S/D curve. They have also been in court a lot more for fair business violations. I don't want to see the gaming industry falling into the same fate, and that's why I always want to see them have a fierce competitor - whether it's Sony or Nintendo.

I've seen MS have a lot more focus than the other two of just trying to bring down the competitor. This generation, they didn't gauge Nintendo as a threat since they thought the Wii would do similarly to the Gamecube. Next generation, MS may focus on what Nintendo has been doing (and they have already started), and then Sony may catch them off guard again.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
