Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why Animal Crossing will flop and get bad reviews

Now you have heard of a game that will come out soon in the month of November called Animal Crossing... I have a lot of explanations why this game will "suck" and flop coincidentally. Now first things first and lets get to why it will receive bad reviews.

The past Animal Crossings had some positive reviews with the original Animal Crossing having an 87% on GameRankings. Only minor flaws with the game but nothing too big that will mess up the gameplay just like that! But as you see, the review for Animal Crossing: Wild world, the DS version for that was released around 3 years after the original, there a very different score. You'll see an 86% on GameRankings for it! Coincidence? Nope, Its that players got tired of the same game all over again. Collecting, collecting, collecting and there was nothing really added anything new to the gameplay. The story of the game is non existant so it's no wonder why the handheld version of Animal Crossing went down a whole point. Now that City Folk is just starting to come in, we can see a similar path of reviews like we did with the both Animal Crossings.

But this time it will be different. City Folk has pretty much the same gameplay as its predecessors and the reviewers will not like that one bit. They want to see something exciting, something brand new, something that's totally different! But instead they will get the same game that was released 6 years ago with only a few things added on so it doesn't look like a mindless repeat of the exact same game, like the city. This game will probably end up taking a turn for the worse and end up at around 70% on gamerankings... or maybe even lower if they aren't being too optimistic... 65% is the highest it would probably get...

Now about the sales, Wild World is just edging near the 10 million mark while Animal Crossing for the GameCube is one of the system's few million sellers. But with City Folk it will be different, and yes it will be way down in sales. The reason why the DS version got it's 10~ million sales is that the DS has a high userbase of near 80 million plus players. Also the DS was the first ever "casual" console that Animal Crossing launched on which could have helped contribute the high sales for Wild World. The GameCube version got only a few million cause again the low userbase of the casuals.

The reason why City Folk will flop is:

1. Animal Crossing is just not as fun anymore as it was all those years ago. It was all good fun running through town, fishing, catching bugs and trying to live the independent life but now it's just plain boring and it feels like a second job instead of a game.

2. Animal Crossing fanboys will cause the game to spike up in sales during launch week... but then it will go down as the Animal Crossing fanboys got the game already...

3. Casual Gamers will not, I repeat WILL NOT buy this game. They probably already have the DS version of the game on account of the game selling near 10 million and they will probably think "Eh, I got the DS version already, I don't need to spend $50 dollars on the same game... and... ooh Wii Music!1!!!1 Something fresh and new, I will buy that!"

That concludes why one of the "biggest" Wii games this year will not be as big as other people hoped it to be. Teh hardcorez don't want to buy it cause they would probably think it's too girly or too kiddy and teh casualz don't probably want to buy it cause they would probably already have the DS version and don't want to spend on 50$ on the same game they have already on the DS... and the reviews Will suck too.

Alrighty then... O_o

I respectively disagree, this one seems a sure 6M TLD seller.

if i had to choose over Mirror edge it surely wont be AC.

Well said Pichu. Well said indeed.

As a fellow hardcore gamer, I applaud your truthful opinion on this shameful excuse for a game. Nintendo has never been one to release a game that truly satisfies my, and many other tastes when it comes to the real gaming world. Animal Crossing: City Folk is no exception... as it looks to destroy any chance of Nintendo being a legitimate gaming company. Nintendo fanboys must now realize that their cherished company has no where to go but down.

Since all of the true hardcore gamers have fled to the oasis known as HD gaming, the only audience that can potentially buy this sheep in wolves clothing (wolves are more hardcore, hence the switch) are the remaining casuals. But thanks to facts presented by Pichu, we all know this potential buyer will fall flat. It's been proven time and again that casuals don't buy games. They buy a wii (and I still don't know why they do that in the first place) and let it sit by their coasters as it collects dust. The evidence is overwhelming, and don't try to overrule these facts. Your precious VGChartz only spins the sales in Nintendo's favor. Nintendo Moneyhatting confirmed.

The only ones left are the Nintendo fanboys, but even they're smart enough, which is saying a lot, to not buy this game. They know, even without their gaming licenses (they paid the price for purchasing that dust collector), that City Folk will be a game they have already purchased TWICE. Fool them once (Wild World), shame on Nintendo. Fool them twice (City Folk), shame on them! They know better, and it is my dearest hope that they will retain at least some dignity and give up on that casual shovel fest of a company. Come to the light that is HD.

AAHH! THE APOCOLYPSE!!! OHE NOEZ!!!
OT: I disagree...

I know that you are being sarcastic, but I bet you are right about bad review scores and the game selling "poorly", though your logic seems intentionally flawed (10M people buying Wild world, 30-50% will want to buy the sequal I bet if they liked the DS one)

I predict a 73-78% on gamerankings and 3-5M in sales.

Stop using your puppets Rol.

well done pichu!!
