Forums - Sony Discussion - So I'm considering buying a PS3...

I'm buying it mainly for the Blu Ray aspect, but also as a gaming machine on the side.

What version would you guys recommend, and what games are really good deals for what they offer?

80gb its the cheapest version.

If you want a nice bundle along with huge HDD space the 160gb is nice, brings Uncharted, and a pain voucher as well.

Resistance 1 and 2, Valkyria Chronicles, MGS4, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, LittleBig Planet and Heavenly Sword are musts. You might think Heavenly Sword is nothing special, bu I bet you'll be pleasently surprised if you get it. I guess the 80 gb, i have a 60 and i may need an upgrade soon lol.

MGS4, R2 and that not all there are a lot of good games on PS3.

If you can wait the deals are piling up you should be able to get free games and 3-4 free blu ray movies as well as a @100.00 gift card be patient if you can

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

Dang, 80 gig is the cheapest one?

i'm in the market for a ps3 as well...

80g is the cheapest if you don't care about BC. Since you're later in the generation there are a lot of good titles on clearance already like rachet and clank, uncharted that should give you a great bang for your buck.

also, if you have the time hold out for a deal. i've seen plenty of great deals where you get money off or free blu rays/games. i'm just playing the waiting game to get that perfect deal for myself.

www.news.google.com ----> search "ps3", articles about sales quickly rise to the top.

Alright, well I'll hold out for one of those deals then. Thanks for the info everyone :]

I don't know if the current retail version supports backwards compatability, but it's worth it to find a version of the PS3 that does. PS2 games look great in HD! Blu-ray is pretty great too. Either way, you're getting a great console.

you can get a blu-ray player for under $200
