Forums - Sales Discussion - "LBP Will be HUGE"...

Lbp did good. i got around 10 friends who dont want to play it because it looks stupid. fuck them go play gta4 THAT is a dissapointment.

holidays are also not in.

and check de HW sales.. x360 could not even beat the ps3 by like 50k. even with the great gears2.
stil! lbp DID! made a impact on ps3 sales...

ouch ! First they (PS3 fanboys) said that Gears 2 won't shift hardware, then it gives 360 sales a boost which is higher than LBP (which is a casual platformer = most likely new PS3 purchaser) and then they turn the side and say oooh LPB has a huge impact on HW sales, but Gears 2 didn't. Pathetic.

X360's AAA games are done this year.
and in EU resistance2 comes out 28 nov...

Oh well so Left 4 Dead doesn't exist.... and as far as I can see Resistance 2 is AA (according to metacritic and gamerankings reviews of course)

soo you know who is leading holidays

yep. The Wii

L4D will be huge-er :P

Well it's still certainly huge in comparison to what you were predicting it would sell way back in January.

twesterm said: Also, I don't think the game will actually bomb like say Zack and Wiki did.  It will probably sell something in the area of 600k copies and eventually develop into a small ittle niche community.  Sadly with the advertising and time spent on this game, 600k copies won't make them any money.

Also from the same thread speaking of LittleBigPlanet:

Garcian Smith said: Anyway, I'm estimating under 100k first week worldwide, and maybe 500k lifetime.

How wrong can you be...?

Man, how bored were you to go back to one of my posts all the back from January?

Also, awesome that I was about right I guess.

I actually had the page bookmarked from the time. Plenty of posters were predicting low sales for LBP in that particular thread so I figured it would be interesting to compare them to official sales of the game when it finally launched.

Your post in this thread served as a reminder that I had your's -and indeed others- sales predictions lying about somewhere, so I went browsing through my bookmarks and found it.

I am not going to read all that, but I think it would have been cooler if you ended your post with "It makes perfect sense".

@Zucas: You think you are all that, but you are not.

This is no joke thread.  >_>

But of course people only focus on the perdictions from crazzymann and say the game failed to meet expectations (look at sig)

LBP was huge... I don't see how 500k in one week isn't huge. Since when is selling half a million in a week not good.

You answered your own question. 500k in 1 week(which is being generous with week 0 addition) is good.

It's not huge.

If 500k in 1 week + limited release is huge, what is 1 million in 1 week?

What is 2.5 million in 2 days?

500k in a week is good. Fallout 3 sold more than that on the 360 alone.

Fallout 3 sold very well.

I wouldn't classify it as huge.

Huge is a lot bigger than big.

LBP might be big. However, comparing it to many other games over just this last month that have dwarfed its sales, even calling it big is a generous classification.

Maybe I should question your classification system. Serious question. If LBP is huge, what is Gears 2? Classify it.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Though this clasification system is a bit stupid I'll humor you. GeoW2 is obviously monsterious. And no one was denying that..

It was kinda funny how in a recent poll most users said that LBP would sell the best this holiday season, more than Gears 2 and Resistance 2. They were obviously wrong.

This poll was actually lifetime sales, not holiday sales.  (or 1st week, like many people think)  You will have to wait a while to see which answer was correct.

Even thought LBP "won" this poll, 70% of the people picked a title other than LBP.

I'm not wild about the idea of posting in a thread in an attempt to sway opinion by showing which group can outshout the other, so to speak, or to cheat myself up. I tend to post in a thread to either state my opinion of the op has asked for that, or to refute something I believe facts contradict.

I've often felt that many pro-ps3 poster come into threads that simply make assertions they don't care for, and pollute the thread by trying to overwhelm it with opposition opinions. Not cool.

And I've often felt that many pro-360 users like to try and prove their point by generalize the pro-ps3 community by a select few optimistic individuals... (anyone see what I did there)

Hey, I know it was stupid. I was walking around for a week like a babe in the woods everytime I heard "LBP will be huge."

No one could explain wtf they were talking about.

Now it appears that we've adopted the "average" "big" "huge" "monsterious" classification system. It's stupid as hell.

I still think it's just "big" though, and calling GeoW2 "monsterious" is moving the goal posts after the fact to make the original huge assertion stick, lol.

This is the internet, you have to adapt or die, lol.
