Well looks like once again it will be FF which rescues the JRPG genre, FFXIII, Versus and Agito cant come soon enough. SO4 and WKC should be good though, definitely not AAA but still 86% meta sounds about right.

Also people need to realize that this game is being made by the SE D team, the new blood which are turds compared to the KH and FF team in terms of quality. In time the team will get better and better so for there first game this is not a bad score however it does look like complete rubbish.

Too bad ,I was actually waiting for this game to come for my PS3 .I will have to stick with Valkyria Chronicles and White Knight until FFXIII comes next year .

I don't believe reviews anymore when it comes to JRPG's.

Unless the game is a FF game or a FSP shooter it will never get more then an 8.

When it comes to JRPG's I pay reviews no mind. Both Lost Odyssey and Tales Vesperia should have been much score higher. Valkyria Chronicles should be averaging at minimum above 90%. Hell VC is the most unique take on the genre I've played in years. If it can't net a 10. I don't think a western reviewer will ever give a JRPG a 10.

Star Ocean The Last Hope might have a chance of at least an 85% review average.  The Last Remnant seems to suffer from the "it was made by the SaGa team" syndrome.  I had a feeling that the game being made by the SaGa team was going to lead to some hiccups.  Too much grinding and not enough cutscenes(yes there is a such thing) is not many people's idea of a great JRPG unless you are a SaGa fan.

that is that point, the fact that they are baised offsets thier opinion, if they give it a 10 the scoremay have a 1 point offset that means the game may end up with a 9 on metacritics, so if the say is a 7 the game will be BAD. So the thing is for all the official whatever magazines there is an off set so if they say an exclusive game is good it may not be that good but if they say is bad is going to be an enema.

Square really sucks in this generation, they should learn from Level 5 or Marvelous.

When Square was Square and not a mere shadow of its former self, for example in 16 bits era, it was able to release in just 3 or 4 years masterpieces like Final Fantasy IV - Final Fantasy V - Secret of Mana - Final Fantasy VI - Seiken Densetsu 3 and Chrono Trigger.

 By what standards ? Western Reviewer standards, that try way too hard to promote WRPGs and [imo] purposely downscore all JRPGs ?

 For example, i was hyped about Mass Effect after reading so many [western] reviews that praised the game and its story, and when i eventually did play it a month ago on my 360, i was shocked to see how unoriginal and amateurishly it was made in both story and design, as well as beeing a tehnical mess. Hell, Wreviewers scored Lost Odissey entire points lower because it has some framedrops here and there, but completely ignored the fact that Mass Effect is virtually unplayable due to the extreme stuttering and frequent pauses and single digits framerates. Don't missunderstand me, i liked the ideea behind Mass Effect's story and i will definitelly play the sequel if there's gnna be one, but in all honesty, Ninja Gaiden 2's cutscene camera work and animations are 10 times better than Mass Effect's, so hire some professionals already.

I honestly don't see Famitsu giving low score to western games on purpose just for the sake of promoting their own games.

Anyway, this is my view on a matter that sadly seems to become a trend.
