Forums - Gaming Discussion - OXM reviews The Last Remnant

I'd like to point out something ironic that we'll see here.

We're gonna have every PS3 fan on this forum comment on this thread.

They'll say things like "another square-enix screw-up" or "square sucks" or "MS bought another flop."

However, the irony is that if OXM had given this game a 10/10, these same people would say "It's OXM, of course they gave it a 10/10," and "Let's wait for some real review sites, this one source isn't credible," or, "OXM, enough said."

The irony doesn't lie in their hypocrisy. It's expected. What's ironic is how kids today couldn't hate corrupt government, intolerance, special interests, and bias more than they do now, yet any one of these folks would be far more bias and corrupt given the same responsibilities as any government official in any government.

I can tell you the people on this website, that you could trust IRL with any kind of social responsibility, and those that you couldn't. Fanboyism has nothing to do with what console you like. It's about the type of person that you are.

you do IT!, they can do it, so watch them, as i see you countless time bashing r2 and lbp.

and last remmant its multiplatform its comming to the ps3 too, it gets good scores it's good for both.

but of course, it looks like damage control have to be done before "ps3 fanboys hypocrites" come and start throwing dirt at the game * rolls eyes *

something they didnt.

Ok score.

ZenfoldorVGI made a valid observation, and it was not even in relation to the review. No it was in relation to the pettiness then will blossom from this review. Every time someone posts a review from a magazine or a website that specifically serves a particular console community the bullshit issues forth from all the fan idiots on these forums.

They will deride the reviewer, and accuse them of being biased, dishonest, stupid, and corrupt. They say they will twist the truth, because they are apostles for a piece of hardware. When the reality is they have no more of an agenda when it comes to the console war then your postman has an agenda about express delivery services. Chances are he is far more concerned about completing his rounds before the blizzard rolls in. Rather then plotting the annihilation of UPS.

However when said reviewers are critical of a game the criticism vanishes like a fart in the wind. Suddenly those biased bastards aren't so biased anymore. In fact they are entirely reputable. Their reviews are entirely trustworthy. Until they give a high score to another game, and then they go back to be being biased bastards.

Really its a selective criticism. We can take what we like, and discount the rest. Pretty good deal huh. You know how we got such a great deal. We made the whole biased shit up. What is tragic is that of the hundreds of posters that will actually see the score a handful of open minds will actually take the time to compare the sources previous scores in the genre.

Lost Odyssey 80 metacritic 79
Blue Dragon 75 metacritic 79
Infinite Undiscovery 60 metacritic 68
Tales of Vesperia 85 metacritic 82

Interesting isn't it they seem to be very close to what the end average actually was. In fact the one title that was least traditional actually received the harshest scoring. They really do not know what they are talking about those biased bastards.

You know what I enjoyed Lost Odyssey, and I enjoyed Blue Dragon. I did not enjoy Infinite Undiscovery as much. So I am seeing a game that according to them is closer to Blue Dragon then Infinite Undiscovery. Sounds like a pretty enjoyable game to me, and if grinding is he biggest issue. I laugh in the face of grinding I played MMOs for years I am no stranger to grinding, and in fact find it oddly rewarding.

It should be an ok rental game for JRPG fans. Hold on for Star Ocean 4 and FF XIII.

It is funny how usually people cry over lack of new IPs from Square but whenever these new IPs appear exactly the same people bash Square for releasing them. The World Ends With You, now The Last Remnant. Thank you guys, let's enjoy our remakes and spinoffs, fuck new IPs.

On topic: I expected the game to score between 7 and 8 in average and looks like that whats gonna happen. The game looks good to me and has an epic feel to it, I am gonna pick it up for PS3 later. Though it looks like I've got no RPG to play this year since I've finished Valkyria Chronicles already.

The simple fact is that this game was being billed as a better JRPG then IU.

It's gotten an early review however, which indicates it's quality doesn't match IU, let alone exceed it.

Take heart though JRPG fans! These are still early days to be sure, given that the review may be somewhat different to those coming down the line, or it may indeed have been reviewed unduly harshly.

Everything would be alright with your post if you wasnt so totally wrong. OXM IU review - 6.0, OXM TLR review - 7.0.

Then again, my bet is that TLR is no different than FF. FF because of name scores high. They mention grinding, FF is full of grinding to. FF as a franchise is way overated. The only FF games imo that deserve a 9 or 10 is FF 7, FF6 and FF2. The rest are 8 or lower.

Thats the problem with reviewers when JRPG's are concerned. Look at FF12, scores about a 6 from me yet the reviews made it seem an awesome JRPG.

Well, unfortunately I don't feel like responding individually, but I will say that my original post is dead on, and it was actually probably referring to most of the people who are criticizing me, and I have no need to respond to upset individuals everytime I post something true, which I usually have to do anyway. When I cut to the heart of the matter, it seems that I get the most flames.

Maybe I should just become a troll so people could marginalize me and get away with their BS, and enjoy the forums more.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I'm not sure what I expect the average review for this game to be, but my guess would be in the 7.8 - 8.2 range. My guess is based on that it is an RPG of sorts and it is made by SE.

I also still really have little idea what the hell game is even about or what you do. Maybe I should go watch more videos of it...
