Forums - Gaming Discussion - Best Video Game Decade? 70's? 80's? 90's? 2000's?

The 90´s for me.

The Super NES era was amazing of course but for me it was the transition to 3D that made the 90´s so awesome. I still remember my first time playing Super Mario 64

That was even more impressive than playing videogames for the first time for me.

90's easily!

16 bit era was the finest generation in video games. Super NES was the best console ever. Genesis also brings some solid games and Sonic to the mix. You've also got a few NES games at the tail end of its lifespan. Great game boy and GBA games. and some good dreamcast stuff. Then you've got the incredible n64 first party games and the incredible n64 multiplayer games and also all the great playstation rpgs. Not to mention the virtual boy, neo-geo, 3DO, and turbo graphix-16!

the 90's was the pinnacle of rpg gaming, had the huge leap into 3D, many of the best local multiplayer games ever, and many of the best 2D and 3D games ever made and also for the pc red alert, warcraft 2, starcraft, simcity 2000, and civ 2 = unstoppable decade!

tie between the 80's and 2000's. some classic pre-NES games. And then the NES had tons of great games. But this decade the industry is so much more advanced and more options so that also makes it good. Plus this decade will have like 1.5 full generations of consoles in it with 3 systems per gen. And also psp and ds. As good as the NES is i don't think it can do better than tie all of that.

end of '08 predictions: wii - 43 million,  360 - 25 million, ps3 - 20 million

Games I've beat recently: Super Mario Galaxy, Knights of the Old Republic, Shadow of the Collossus

Proud owner of wii, gamecube, xbox, ps2, dreamcast, n64, snes, genesis, 3DO, nes, atari, intellivision, unisonic tournament 2000, and gameboy

90's Because SNES + Genesis + Turbo Duo + Neo·Geo = pure brilliance

I'm gaming since the 80's, but the 90's take the prize, the start of awesome franchises, the fight between Sega and Nintendo (Mario vs Sonic was a topic between gamers), the RPGs raised to heaven in this era, platformers started to have stories, it was the start of 3D gaming, disc-based gaming, PC gaming became serious business, so many things... And my favorite all-time console is here: The SNES...

1) 90's SNES and N64. No contest for best decade in my mind.

2) 00's

3) 80's

4) 70's

00's. I loved megadrive but modern games are just so much better than those I played back then.

90s for sure

90s, hands down.

SNES. Genesis. 3DO. N64. PC games. Just thinking about the PC games like Doom and Rise of the Triad and Warlords and Full Throttle and Myth: The Fallen Lords still gets me all warm and fuzzy inside.

90s
2000s
80s
70s

90's>2000's>80's>70's

The 90's had the PS1 and the SNES, vs the 2000's that only have... well... the PS2. Therefore, 90's win.
