Forums - Sales Discussion - Did Fallout 3 flop?

Its crazy what peps say or refer to flops these days. We still have a month and a half of Christmas sales to compare yet. Like Death said above...Could easily be the 3rd best selling launch game on the PS3. Just think if had COD4 legs. If its as good as peps/reviews have stated (i'm still waiting on my copy in the mail). It should have np selling millions in the long run.

You wanna have your opinion, then you have to respect different opinions as well.

for the creators it's not a flop it has shipped 4.7 million copies, they probably make a nice price already with that. As far as by gamers it is far too early to judge especially PC sales that might actually be quite good.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

The responses are right, pc sales are a hard to track.

Over 1 million in 1 week is a flop? Rofl

the pc sales are probably most of them. it may be a flop on console, but pc sales will make up for it

come play minecraft @  mcg.hansrotech.com

According to some, any game that sells under 1M first week worldwide on a single console is a flop.

Therefore, there have been only 11 games this generation that were not flops. Pretty sad for developers, in my opinion.

No, for 3 reasons:

1) We have absolutely NO good data for the Fallout series. Fact is, it's popularity was built on a cult following, which means it didn't sell very good.

2) Oblivion launched with far lower numbers. Bethsada shipped around 2 million units of TESIV it's first week. Fallout 3 is over double that.

3) Oblivion was/is the pinnacle of RPG leggery. It sold great at launch on the X360 (250k units) and sold nearly 2 million units in America alone. Fallout 3 will have great legs.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Fallout 3 sold well. It's also very hard to track PC sales.

With 4.3 million copies sold shipped to retail, it's already a huge hit made Bethesda a lot of money, even if the game never ever ever sells through those shipments.

Question, when they ship games to places, dont' those places have to pay for said shipments before they are sold?

That's why I meant when I said 'sold to retail.' I didn't mean sold through retail.

Anyway, you should give the game a chance Naz.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Is Naz an Oblivion hater or a Fallout 1/2 fan?
