diamuerto said: Heeey, Kwaaaaaad. Game Informer gave it 8.5 exactly. Someone gave it 8.5 so you have to admit you were wrong. Overall it's getting very mixed reviews! Take a look. http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/934381.asp I guess it's that type of game, you either like it or you hate it.
SNAP One review comany gave it a 8.5. Then agian one gave it a 5.5 Guess one person gave it a 8.5 : I'm sorry. Too bad the average review for it is BELOW what I expected.

if motorstorm keeps over 85%, then ps3 now has 3 games with 85% or higher average (gamerankings.com), with the wii only having 1. 9 to 4 on games over 80%, too. interesting. just sayin, heh... btw, the 360 only has 13 games 85% or higher so far, but 43 over 80%. of course, that's with a year head start and many of those not being exclusive (particularly sports games).

Kwaad, I'd LOVE to hear your thoughs on why so many Wii games scores are all over the charts. ;) Honestly, I'm wondering why several wii game's review scores are so outta whack with each other... it makes no bloody sense. It seems more like reviewers are playing different versions of the same game, if even sometimes.

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

The game is obviously not broken it's getting high scores everywhere along with the rotten ones almost equally. There is also an obvious split between the reviews on both extremes. Medium scores are scarce so there's a very good chance that alot of the more negative reviews have the reviewer looking at this from a traditional controller perspective. Whoever said the comfort zone bit is unto something. Btw, Games Radar gave it a 9. I expect IGN to give it somewhere inbetween 8 and 9.(since the other two of the big three,1Up and Gamespot, already gave it the lower extreme and medium scores respectively and based on the IGN reviewer's reaction when the 5.5 score came out).

I think it looks great - I will definitely be buying it (my first SSX purchase). Some reviewers will never 'get' the Wii controls - Wii gamers will just learn to ignore those sites completely.

Honestly I really don't think you can judge the Wii based on review averages. My point being alot of people were critical of Wii sports, I understand why, it is relatively shallow, and the controls don't work right on every game but, it was free(a detail most reveiwers ignored, also ignored Wii Play coming with a controller), and it was the first console title most people played with motion contol, I don't know about most people but when I first tried I was blown away by it(so were my friends, and I'm including friends that normally refuse to play games). And the multiplayer alone got me 10 hours out of the game so far. Not to mention two of my friends are trying to buy a Wii now simply based on their experience of playing Wii Sports. yet this game on gamerankings.com averages a 7.7 out of 10. That is a view from a hardcore gamers perspective, yet the Wii is aimed a at the casual nongaming community which I think they would give this game 9 of out 10. Same with Wii Play, now I'm not saying Wii Play was a great game, but it was really cheap considering you get a controller, not to mention these two titles alone sold in the millions already. My point is your judging the system on how many 8.5 and up reviewed titles there are on it. But one averagely reivewed game(Wii Sports) and one poorly reivewed game(Wii Play) are driving the sales of the system. So

Will there be another 1080 which is gonna compete with this one?

From what I have seen, I expect that the Standard Deviation on scores for Wii games will be (much) higher than we have seen for systems in the past; for the past generation we have had games with (more or less) standard control schemes so a person's love/hate with a certain control scheme rarely impacted the score ... It will (probably) take 2 years before developers have centered around 1 control scheme for most games so until then many reviews will be "I love/hate how this game controls 9.0/5.0" ...

It's because they look at who is visiting their site. 90% wii... 10% others. Hmmm.. make the Wii look bad... They go somewhere else... hmmm...

Yeah, exactly. Gamespot gave wii sports a crappy review because they tried playing bowling sitting down, and thus it didn't work very well. Of course their score must have been because they just know what systems all their visitors own. Scoring a game poorly because they can't get their head around the control system is just silly.
