Uncharted was a great game for PS3 owners who are desperate for good games. Uncharted however is not a generation defining game that sets any standard outside of the PS3's userbase. It was a game that despite its glory passed relatively unoticed under the radar.

QFT, but just like Gears of War, why enrage the game's fans by tearing into something that they hold dear?

Another game that is benefiting from sequel selling power. Unfortunately it will most likely only stand tall until the next shooter comes along and outdoes it by whatever margin warrants a revolutionary game this generation. Sounds fun, but length is always a concern... then again, most people aren't buying it for the campaign mode, online is what really sells these games.

These sales are not too far off from Halo3's launch, showing a likely overlap of userbases. I think most would agree this series is far more fresh than Halo anyway, but as the Halo fanbase starts to fray along the edges as people get tired of the redundancy I see this series being favored as the shooter of choice.

I won't delude myself into thinking that Gears 2 is some kind of work of art.  I don't even think that Gears 2 is worthy of the many Game of the Year nominations/awards it will recieve in the coming months.  I will say this:  The game's presentation is second to none, and the story hits all the right buttons.  At least to me, the game is incredibly enjoyable, amazingly accessable, and totally satisfying........and I haven't ever touched multi-player in Gears 1 OR Gears 2.

Just like "The Dark Knight", this isn't the greatest gift God has blessed us with.  But there's no harm in loving a product that's meant to cater to a mass market, is there?

 quite fair.

It is nice to see a game that marries this generations trend of Shooters with last generation's trend of cinematic story telling on a level warranting such notice.

Gears 2 made me almost made me cry this morning. Only MGS3 accomplished a similar feat. It's a summer blockbuster movie on steroids. And it has a surprising amount of heart. Don't know how close I am to beating it, but I am loving this game right now.

I know what scene you are on about, very very powerful, I was surprised by how it nearly made me cry lol (on other games that have had that effect were Final fantasy's and Lost odyssey).

Consoles Owned: XBOX 360, Wii, DS and PSP.

So why does everyone still use it as the benchmark?

It's a game that, against what PS3 fans wanted or expected, is defining the generation. Here it is years later, and only one game has rivaled it graphically (MGS4).

@Seinor, the post above the one I quoted is the one with the real issue. You state your opinion like fact. Gears 2 was better for you, but I would make a strong guess that if you put uncharted and gears 2 in front of someone who knows nothing about either, and does not know what system they are on, the vast majority would come away saying Uncharted had the better story.

Lol?

It's holding like an 89 on GameRankings yet it's "under the radar"?  Almost 2 million in un-bundled sales yet "under the radar"?

Can you please go back to the troll cave that you came from?

It's a 90% (2sf) on gamerankings actually. It is heralded by most as the best or second best PS3 exclusive and won numerous awards. It has sold 2m ish copies, and it is still selling well. It did not have anything near the advertsing budget as Gears as well

Gears is a very good game, but I think Uncharted is better. However, this thread is about Gears of War, not Uncharted

Sorry, but your opinion is wrong.  Uncharted's story was cliche and forgetable.   The graphics were Uncharted's big draw.  Even the gameplay was the inferior bastard child of Tomb Raider Legend and Gears of War.  I enjoyed it, but c'mon.

Halo 3 has the most boring, droning, and absolutely uninspired campaign I've ever seen in any game. Then again, I felt the same way about the last 2 Halo games (even more so) and I don't play enough shooters to make a comparison. Gears of War 2 looks really fun, and it only pains me knowing how I'll have to choose with all the big games coming out during the holiday season.

True... HALO 3 was my first Halo game and I was severly disappointed by the campaign (still some impressive moments...).

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

What difficulty are you all playing on?

I am playing on hardcore, and apart from a few small places, I have found it much easier than 1

Can we go back to talking about Gears 2.

Anyway, I am looking forward to play this game. Seems like alot of fun. I have Resistance 2 and just started playing.
