Nintendo takes too much time IMO in between games, and it's not like they are using a new technology unlike what HD developers are doing. How is it possible that games that run on a tech that's almost the same as the one in the previous gen take double or triple the time of those making HD games? They should be taking way less than the HD devs, but it looks like even though they are a talented developper, Nintendo faces maybe too many developping issues, maybe they arent as reliable as other devs. Hopefully in 2010 we might see a new Nintendo game for the Wii :)

Maybe because there target isnt making amazing hardcore games? Why do you think they have released/announced tons of "casual" like games?

What? Can you point out these tons of announced "casual" games? Wii Music is out, and the next "casual" game is Wii Sports resort, which tons of hardcore players are buying because of WMP.

After that, there's lots of hardcority in sight. Did you forget the convention last month? Sin and Punishment 2, Punch Out!, and those other new IPs?

Add me for Pokemon, New Leaf, and Fire Emblem, Mario Kart 8.

Perhaps its because if a game isn't quite right, they'll go back and make it again.

Add Blizzard and Valve to that list, and see what that shows you.

Also add: Team ICO *4 years development* and Killzone 2 as well.

Tease.

Those other new IP's aren't being developed by Nintendo, and none of them are planned for a US release. Not even S&P2 or Punch Out are being made by Nintendo.

almost all the Nintendo games you have listed have been received (e.g. reviews) better than those HD games

Nintendo is famous for polishing it's games over and over, so that must be one of the reasons; whether you like them or not, those Nintendo games have a very high quality

(I don't play them though, not my taste)

''Hadouken!''

So, let me see. On the Wii side you have ONE company. One the HD side you have Sony, Microsoft, Monolith, Bizarre, Ubisoft, 2K Games, Harmonix, Crytek, Mistwalker, Criterion Games and Infinity Ward. That's ELEVEN companies.

I'd just like you to think whether ELEVEN to ONE is a fair comparison.

Nintendo is doing rather well to have equalled the output of 6+ "HD" developers in terms of games.

With 25 developing teams, you'd expect them to do better. It's been only as of late that Nintendo has stopped producing games, we only know of 3 being in development so far. One has to wonder what are the other 22 teams doing that is taking that long!
Besides, those companies I listed there are making multiple games, not just 1. Ubisoft for example is capable of making at least 10 HD games in the span of 3 years. Same with EA, Sony, MS, Take 2. And remember they are using new tech, whereas Nintendo has to make their games run on an enhanced GC engine, only caring about Motion controls.

another reason might be, any games releasing on the wii have to be final. theres no fixing bugs with small updates, a bug is a bug there for life the majority of wii owners are the casual, they dont intend to hook it up to the internet expecting bug fixes.

Look at all the small bugs and little glitches on HD games that are patched after release.

Doing this on the wii is suicidal.

but there are advantages to having people expect patches and updates and fixes. Some games such as burnout paradise got an awesome update for free.
