Just beated campaign in co-op mode and played about 20 matches Horde mode I must say that this game is one of the best action games what I have played. Simply stunning.

A couple of times in different threads, I said that Gears 2 may be slightly worse, graphically, than Gears 1 or other games. Let me say: BULLSHIT!! The more I play, the more impressive this game gets! Best looking game I've ever played, hands down. The story and the surprises are great too. A must play!!

so far for me:

Gears 1>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Gears 2

it takes FOREVER to find a match. lancer is too powerful. shotty is too weak and slow. gameplay is more sluggish and slow paced compared to gears 1. chainsaw in gears 2 is way too easy to pull off...flamethrower is kinda too powerful..no public match to choose what settings and weapon swaps u want....u can't quit out of a match u either have to go to the dashboard or sign out. smoke/stun grenades i feel are really annoying.

i like horde mode and i just started story mode and i think that will be good

This kind of accusation (gears1 better than 2) occurs with EVERY single sequel that ever hits... I went through this with Halo 2 and 3... Counter strike Source and pretty much any game that had an amazing first title... It takes time for people to adapt and appreciate the new game, but it will happen.

I think you might not have played it, and are just using things you've investigated around the forums, like from the "online is broken" thread, in order to create this topic. I also believe that you've manufactured your sig to prove and given the campaign slight props to lend yourself some credibility. Your second post, another ploy.

The thing is, Gears 2 is much better than Gears 1 in the campaign. Gears 1 also really had no multiplayer worth mentioning, while Gears 2 mulitplayer, especially the horde more(and co-op) is fantastic, but at the very least, "existant."

It's impossible that something is worse than nothing, thus your entire argument doesn't actually make sense.

I didn't play a lot more of the multiplayer but I got a good lenght on the campaign and its pretty amazing, the graphics seems like they get better and better the more I play it lol
The campaign definitely delivers and is better than the first one thats for sure.
I guess when your used to an excellent game like Gears1 and Gears2 comes with lots of changes that its like learning how to play the game over again.

I don't agree with the OP that Gears 2 is worse then gears 1. I personally hated the shotgun centric Gears 1 multiplayer. You would usually just have two groups of 4 run at each other and it would be over in 30 seconds. I find the Gears 2 matches far more strategic without the mindless bunching up in a single doorway area.

Horde is a very good addition, it is of course hard for me to think its too amazing due to playing a lot of R2s vastly superior coop (has classes, multiple maps with dynamic objectives, 8 person teams and great interplay/difficulty). It is a lot better then Gears 1 but on the multiplayer it doesn't come anywhere close to R2 (its not even close in competitive, 5 vs 5 just doesn't cut it any more then 4 v 4 did. Again, of course, comparing it to R2 with the 5 person squads as a part of a 10-30 person team fighting over objectives, WAY better).

On the bright side I did like the Gears 2 single player better then the Resistance 2 single player. The weapons are certainly much better in Resistance, but the connection to the characters was way better in Gears 2. The built in co-op was pretty nice too with two continuous characters (R2 has a few characters that pop in and out, and a kinda awkward Co-op 2 person game that I don't think is playable online).

I played through Gears 2 single player and it was fun, but honestly ever since that and a few shots at horde mode/multiplayer I went right back to leveling up my medic in Resistance 2.

I know some will say I'm just biased, but I'm 100% glad that I rented Gears 2 and bought Resistance 2, it just has so much more to like.

Well.. I just played Gears 2 for eight hours today (oops...)

Here are my thoughts:

1) When playing the campaign I kept finding myself on the edge of the couch...
2) Finding a multiplayer match seemed rather slow
3) Horde mode waves one to twenty on casual was too easy and a little boring
4) Horde mode waves one to twenty on casual can be beaten with a shield and pistol whip
5) Horde mode waves 37 to 50 on regular was hard and challenging
6) Flamethrowers are fun
7) I stopped and read every collectible item found looking for clues to "something"...
8) The 2.0 achievement is insane...
9) Tai's death was fucked up...

So yeah.. I sort of spent all day playing this.. its now 2:30am, my mind is a little fried and I think I need to head to bed...

I know that the OP made this thread to bash Gears of War 2, but I just got the "A Time For Us" Achievement, and let me say this: Holy shit. This game is amazing.

Act 2 alone is worth the asking retail price, i finished Act 2 last night at work and all i can say is that the graphics and set-pieces are M.I.N.D.B.L.O.W.I.N.G.......!!!!!!!!

I'm only 2 acts in (i did a bit of act 3 cos i couldn't resist) and i'm saying this right now........ Gears 2 campaign> Gears 1 campaign

Although i still think Gears 1 campaign is amazing aswell.
