Maybe someone should put up a permanent notice saying that VG chartz gets numbers of sold to consumers rather than the normal company numbers of sold to retailers, or the old inflated sony numbers of "shipped" (meaning produced).....

There are two problems with the present notice

1) It just talks about other websites and not the reports from the Sony, ninty and MS.

2) it's a big block of little writing that people don't notice let alone read.

Well I think this site charts are more adjusted to reality that the 4.28 number ,and especially that the 4.48 one .

I would give the PS3 some 4 million sold .

Still ,what I am saying is that this time Sony has explicitly said it wasnt speaking about shipped numbers but about sold to customers .Thats why I added the other link .

For anyone who reads that it is legit to think this site numbers are slighty off ,its not that he is a irrational hater or anything .I personally think it has some 4 million ,so I am closer to vgchartz numbers that to Sony numbers ,but I dont see as a MANIAC and a Hater someone who reading that SOny claims 4.28 million sold to customers emphazising it is not shipped but sold to customers actually thinks it must have 4.28 million sold .After all Sony has direct access to all the data from NPD ,Media Create ,Gamecharts ,GFK etc ...

We have the same thing happen every time there is an earnings announcement without fail. I don't know whether to laugh or cry sometimes.

Which is why I suggested adding a column for sold to retailers by the main graph.

First thing people are going to see is the numbers and the charts. It will also get people to quit sending you Numbers, because they will be there already... right in front of them.

well if the people want to see shipments numbers in VG Chartz can see the world hardware section, but now i have a doubt,for now Sony shiped 5.50 or 4.28m? or 9.78? 10? 11? 15? 5?

Diomedes - the financial report says "recorded sales", never mentions customers or consumers. Their sales are to retailers, that's what matters to investors and that's what gets reported. It's the same in the MS/Nintendo reports.
