Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft leaves Europe to Sony ?

All right, I know that Europe was a Sony stronghold in the past with the PS2.

Now it is more of a 50/50, which is not bad..

BUT !

I don't feel like Microsoft is making too much local efforts here :

- The Sony marketing remains very strong (soccer event, gift for radio shows, publicity ...)

- No Netflix for Europe

- No pre-order with codes for Europe

- No special launch event for any games

I'm pretty sure it as an impact (well It does on me), because European players are asking for it.

It just feels like the EU market is not their priority ... they are more busy on the US and even in JP !

What is the impressions of my fellow European 360 players on this forum ?

I dont think thats true for UK - e.g. Gears 2 midnight events/bundle, pre-order codes. But if you mean mainland EU then maybe - but they are going to up these events/pre-order codes and EU-centric games next year with the new EU marketing boss (ex-Nintendo).

Really ? New marketing boss ?

Technically, UK is not Europe , so what about netflix ?

LOL UK is in the european union, why do you say that? BTW, now xbox360 arcade costs 130euros in france, it's the same price than a ps2...

And they're advertising it a lot, with their boring ads.

... from a market stand point I meant ... Uk is an english country so it is easy to bind it to the US market .. I suppose...

Indeed the ads are boring.. is is only about pricing ...

I'm still mad about NETFLIX and no pre-ordering ..

We do have game relise events and pre-order with codes here in Russia.

MS puts a fair bit of effort into Australia - but then again our buying habits are more like the US, even if our release dates are pretty similar to Europe

107k to 92k this week in 360's favor...lol!

I believe the new guys name is Gosen.

Also, the head of MGS is now British.

I received alot of pre-order gifts from Amazon/HMV. I believe there is a new deal in France now with a €40 rebate for 360 consoles now. Im sure pre-order gifts are happening. Where do you live?

In terms of Netflix, the TV/VoD distributors are still deciding whether they think video game consoles are a good venture (which will be helped by the news that in UK, games will outsell music and film this year).

I think Sony is ahead in the VoD department with PlayTV. But its bound to show up on the 360. I reckon next year something will come up.
