Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I hope Nintendo doesn't pull this crap again in 2009

What I mean by that, is leaving a 6-month gap in their release schedule. April 27th-October 21st (around there) without anything worthwhile for the Wii.

I understand they might want to give 3rd parties a chance to sell or something, but it's not like those 3rd arties can say "well, Nintendo isn't releasing anything, let's make a game in 4 months and have it released by September!"

Now that I think about it, not Nintendo, but the Wii itself cannot be allowed to have that gap. Things with Party in the title do not spur hardware sales. The point I'm  trying to make is look at how this software gap has affected HW sales in Japan.

I would say 3rd parties should be held responsible too, but that would contradict my argument. So to put it shortly:
The Wii should not have half-year gaps without worthwhile releases. At most, 3 months. That way, it is Seasonal.

I could be wrong, but I suspect that the gap produced this holiday season was created by a couple of games being delayed ... A side effect of Nintendo not announcing their games months in advance (anymore) is that games can be delayed and we didn't even know that they existed.

6 months ago Nintendo could have decided Kid Icarus (as an example) would work better with Wii MotionPlus and delayed the game 6 months in order to give the development team time to incorporate advanced controlls.

This thread will be deadly.

I do agree with the OP though

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

we all hope for that. thankfully we have some games in january to april...

-The Conduit
-MadWorld
-Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop
-Sonic and the Black Knight

with any luck the first two of those games will be AAA, where the other two are okay. but ya. Nintendo needs to announce a new Mario, Zelda, F-Zero, Pikmin, Kid Icarus, Star Fox, etc, and by announce I mean release dates for 2009. and have them come out quickly.

not only that but we need more 3rd party games, and AAA third party games.

Wario Land was a worthwhile title. September for America/Others and July for Japan.

Like Rol said, if it's based on your opinion then I understand.

Your whole "6 months without a worthwile release" argument is based on personal taste, so expect your thread to fall apart quickly.

Hmm, you're probably right. I should've said 1st party effort, but that sounds selfish. However, I could say that by worthwhile, I'm talking about a game that is actually important in Japan, which I'm pretty sure I mentioned. As a lot of people here have seen, the Wii appears to be in trouble in Japan when you look at hardware sales. You can't have MKWii in April, then wait tuntil November to drop Animal Crossing, see what I'm saying. The HW sales must be sustained by software.

The Wii doesn't have the luxury of the Gundam games (for example) like the PS2 has that restore interest (at least a little) in the system every FEW months.

I hope you understand what I mean now.

Rol has a good point there. I can't argue with this post one bit. Kudos to Kim Possible.

Animal Crossing, that's going to be big. Tales of Symphonia 2 also. Wario Land: Shake it is just as good as some of those overrated games on your list like Saints Row 2, Far Cry 2, Midnight Club LA, etc.
