Forums - Sales Discussion - First Day Sales (Fire Emblem Wii and MHP2)

Monster Hunter Portable 2nd (PSP, Capcom) - 500,000 copies Fire Emblem: Akatsuki no Megami (Wii, Nintendo) - 50,000 copies Naruto Shippuuden: Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX (Wii, Takara Tomy) - 20,000 copies Sim City DS (NDS, EA) - 20,000 copies Trigger Heart Exelica (DC, Warashi) - 10,000 copies Riot Act [Crackdown] (Xbox 360, Microsoft) - 10,000 copies Metal Slug Complete (PSP, SNK Playmore) - 10,000 copies source: the-magicbox.com MHP2 seems to have a sold a lot more than I expected it would sell. I'm actually disappointed with Fire Emblem's sales. It's not looking like it will get to sell 100k copies during the MC week. And is that a Dreamcast game?

No question that MH2 has done really well. I think the initial shipment was 500k, so it has sold out completely. Without trying to sound negative, I wonder if they scored a LOT of their total sales on this day - as gamers have obviously been REALLY looking forward to it. Will see if the sales stay strong (i.e. if it can stay in the charts), and hit the million mark in a month (as it should). (I also hope this convinces Capcom to bring MH to other platforms - DS & Wii??) Fire Emblem did ok - I was surprised to read (IGN) that it really is JUST a GC game. No widescreen, no Wii features at all. Its sales are roughly in line with previous Fire Emblem titles (70k-80k for the week). Will boost Wii sales. ... I have to say its amusing to see a DC title sell as much as Crackdown on release :)

Long live Sega... I don't get to say that often enough.

Fire Emblem looks like crap...at least as a Wii game. Although I understand that it will sell better as a Wii game than a GC game...but it is really just a GC game. If I buy it, I'll have to always tell myself it's just a GC game...cause it's crap on Wii

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Being that Fire Emblem last game in the franchise sold half as well as Virtua Firghter 4, it seems good the this Fire emblem sold as well as VF5 I'm a little surprised though the Naruto games hasn't sold better. The last Naruto game sold as well as the last Fire Emblem so I'm surprised this one wasn't in line. Monster Hunter was unstoppable this week as the last one will soon be the first psp game in japan to break a million in sales. it seems like a pretty good game I actually own it and never played i more then a half hour, I half to get back into it.

Monster Hunter Portable 2 has done amazingly well, but I wonder how well it is going to do over time; the Japaneese market is pretty unique in that a high demand game can sell 70% (or more) of its total sales in its first week. Fire Emblem's performance is not too surprising ... For awhile I thought Nintendo dropped the ball with this series (and earthbound); durring the N64 generation lots of Nintendo fans desperately wanted RPGs and Nintendo had the IP necessary to release a good RPG every year.

All these sales are pretty much expected. The first MHP game is the best selling PSP game ever as far as the Japanese market goes. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance sold 155k liftetime on GC, so its sequel selling 50k the first day on the Wii is actually better than I expected. I didn't expect Riot Act (Crackdown) to sell all that well in Japan. So no surprise there. The only surprises for me were the low Naruto sales and the appearance of a DC title.

Capcom has just announced that Monster Hunter 2 has sold 700K in four days ....fastest selling third party game ever on a handheld ....

I thought Fire Emblem on the GC was quite weak. I loved the GBA version, but the GC version was not up to the challenge. Graphics/animations should have been a lot better. Story was bordering on silly. But worst of all, the balancing was WAY out. By the time I got to the end of the game, my characters were bordering on invincible. I played the last mission in "silly" mode, and still didn't lose a character. Here's hoping this version is stronger - not sure if I'll make the purchase.
