What other fans are they planning to attract? They have everyone already, unless they know of life in outer space but that would never...................................... happen...............................

Why is it that Nintendo always blows its load each console generation and recycles the same games the next. You'd think they would invest in more first-party studios if third-party ones don't give a damn.

1. Fans demand sequels, so it makes sense that Nintendo develops sequels.

2. Nintendo creates new IPs every generation.

3. Nintendo already publishes more than 60 games per year.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

Anyone seen the Gary Larson cartoons with the single cell amoeba's. Now that's un tapped market right there

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I'd kill for a 2d mario platformer that looks just like that stage in SSBB.

They do have a lot of work to do. They cannot market enough. That doesn't mean advertising.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

This is exciting news, can't wait to see what it will become.

If there is a new 2d mario in development you can be sure it is on DS rather than Wii.  I am hoping that just as New Super Mario Bros was based on Mario 1, that they release New Super Mario Bros 2 based on Mario 3 with hammer brother suit, frog suit, etc.
