Once it happens, there will be an explosion of news. GameTab will have several articles, and eventually every games site will post news about it.

Some may wait longer, until "other" publications post figures which show it has happened. But I think it will all happen roughly at the same time.

With Ninty's qrt'ly results, and announcement of 9m+ Wii's - I think its become obvious to everyone that it will happen soon.

Nintendo won't go the full press release, but you may see a snide comment or two from some execs (i.e. "outselling the competition").

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! This is what I think will happen

The smaller shops (blogs, lesser know gameing news website) will quote vgchartz. Then the news will make its way to Digg and Reddit where it will make the front page.

Then, bigger know websites (ign,gamepro,etc) will comment on it, maybe even write full articles on the matter.

Then all that will be followed by small blips on major news network (CNN, ABC, etc)

I would really take the beta sign off the front page... I think that wouldn't look as good when seen on national television ;)

Only when you see Media Create or NPD sales pass 360 in their respectful regions will you see something like that happen. Or the most likely when they announce more units shipped than MS does for 360.

I wonder if NPD will throw another hissy fit if news media starts citing VGchartz?

Just curious, without getting into a date guessing match...what is your criteria to change your second prediction on your sig?

VGChartz? Corporate Earnings Reports? NPD?

 Edit: And do you stand by your third prediction still with the 360 at 420k lifetime in japan thus far?
