Forums - Gaming Discussion - Circuit City Launches "Gamer Savings Club"

Gamestop has one and it generally pays for itself as long as you buy and sell used games.

eh, this year has been unique. I bought a new system and many games. Normally I may not buy 4+ 'new' games in a year. Usually buy them used off of ebay and save more like 20% per game, without a yearly fee.

Yeah, but you have to get people to listen to your spiel first without cutting you off. :)

twesterm...

Not to hijack my own thread, but how is the situation different from any retail store other than the fact that they don't back up street dates with a $20 gift card?

Working at a retail store really has convinced me that we, as consumers, sometimes expect way to much.

I hear ya there, DonWii.  EB for me all the way.  Cheap used games. Although they buy back anything for very little, but thats ok, I never re-sell any games anyway.  I grow too attached.

A delayed game is good someday, a bad game is bad forever.

I got one question, what about hardware? lol Do we get 10% off hardware? I'm kidding :P anyway I'll probably get it.

And hey Leo what gamestop card? I've never heard of anything of the like and I generally go to gamestop due to lack of any other choices.

The Gamestop Card will get you 10% off anything used and refurbished. That's fine when it comes to games, but when I'm buying a console, the word "refurbished" really turns me off.

...and for the record. If you're using the money you get from trading in games to buy more games, go to GAMECRAZY. (Attached to Hollywood video if their in your markets.) You get more money from the stuff you trade in and the used items are much much cheaper. This is simply because they don't give you the option to trade in games for cash. Store credit only....

Seriously. Do it. I left Gamestop and never went back.

....and you get magazines with their V.I.P. card.

Starting the 29th until October (I believe) you get Circuit's Savings Club card free with any console purchase. That's the extent with consoles for the moment. Still, no other retailer discounts brand new products.
