Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why does stuff like this keep happening?

Buying a Wii sends a strong message I guess. "Im not too fussed about games which push the graphics boundaries" But it doesn't say "I want a crap game, shovel it down my throat and give me seconds please!"

The issue I guess that seems most important here is this:

A: It damages the reputation of third party developers on the Wii, making its audience even more 3rd party shy. If they haven't played the game, a lot of people would have heard about it from friends/internet etc.

B. If it makes any money, it just gives them an incentive to do it more. When crappy work is good enough, expect crappy work done.

C. A smaller issue, but it does reflect on the console negatively as well when bad games are released. No fault of Nintendo or even the other third party companies with honest offerings. Bad offerings unfortunately do too much to counteract the good work of other developers.

Personally, blame the Publishers here and not the developers. Most often these types of choices are made which go against the wishes of the poor saps forced to make/deliver this crap.

Imagine if you got told to make a game in 9 months with half the people you need just because the publisher wants to make some extra $$$? Either you work your butt off to make a semi decent game or you just accept the inevitable and try and makes something that at least semi-works.

Tease.

I don't understand ubi. They are just ruining their reputation with Wii owners coming out with crap like this. And it's not like this is gonna sell, or Vengeance didn't sell either, what's the point?

Just let them be... In due time the casuals will not buy any casual crap from third parties anymore.

Like Konami and Squeenix they too have no good quality titles on the Wii I think in 2009 the Wii and its games will change we actually see it now with the upcoming releases like Madworld, The Conduit and Monster Hunter 3...

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

hmm, i may not have liked the wii that much, but my grandfather who uses it now seems to like an ubi game, blazing angels wii, outside of that wii sports is all he plays, my little sister (4) plays one or two other games, but i no longer know what they own.

it does seem rather strange that so many ubi games on every other platform rock and has rocked even on the mac back in the day, but for the wii games just dont turn out,

well as long as it doesnt spread to the other consoles ill be fine

I think Ubi was the only western developers that shunning the Wii, even Activison is stepping up Quantum of Solace was great very different in the first screenshots...

Problem is that Ubisoft isn't necessarily a Western developer.

LOL its from Ubi what do you expect?

Ubisoft is still good. They just don't seem to care anymore. The original Rainbow Six Vegas scored top marks, then the sequel was average. If they keep up this lack of effort they may be out of the business

So basically they took two ps2 games, removed some things including multiplayer, fucked up the frame rate, and released them for the Wii ? LOL

what the hell is up with ubisoft. they seemd a really strong third party to begin with, claiming they were going to deliver 'nintendo like quality' on the wii. red steel lacked polish but it was a good idea.it seemded a really fresh title in the igenre, with IR aiming, new IP, sword combat, interesting sitaution (an FPS set not in WW2 or a modern day war or a future war in space, but in japan of all places). the title was simply too rushed and lacked polish. since then however its all gone downhill. there release are mostly mediocre at best and rubbish at worst. red steel 2 is apprently still a long way off. but they still claim they will deliver to core gamers but that they need time to built their wii engines. im not asking much, im not asking for big budget exclusives, wii is getting a lot of them from japan. but they need to bring them selves up to the standard of other western companies (which isnt that high). i mean look at activsion, its not giving wii any big game but they are at least giving decent multiplats, most ubi multiplats dont even get a wii version. their only redeeming quality is that they are taking japanese games over to USA (NMH, Tenchu IV)

Why do you blame Ubisoft? It has done great games and all.
I blame WII FIT!!
No, I blame Wii.
