Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Tomb Raider: Underworld Demo - Must play to believe

I'm surprised so many people think this looks as good as Uncharted. The demo does look very good, but I thought Uncharted looked substantially better.

Aw man... It looks like Lara got another breast reduction.... What is happening to the world when Lara Croft is no longer at the top of sexiness among video game people?

OT: Everything else looks great.

looks very sexy. reminds me of a female version of Uncharted with all the landscape and green green green!

This... but TBH the screens for UC look better... and no, not because its a Sony exclusive just that from the vids Ive seen and the screens Ive seen UC looks to have a higher level of deatil... especially when it comes to character animation :P

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Uncharted's water > TR: U's water

Also the water effects are better. Like how Nathan get's wet, and you can see it on his half-tucked in shirt and pants, but when lara gets in and out of water, it looks the same.

Why do PS3 fans feel obliged to talk about Uncharted? Uncharted is inferior to Tomb Raider. I have 100%'d Uncharted twice (due to trophies) so it's not as if I don't like to play the game. But I originally bought it for its supposedly Tomb Raider-esque qualities and I found it disappointing.

There is very little challenge to the platforming whatsoever, and there isn't even that much of it. And as for the puzzles... Uncharted forces the solutions upon you if you take too long or do one part wrong, which is bizarre. All the challenge in Uncharted is concentrated in the shooting, which comprises the bulk of the game.

Tomb Raider Anniversary on the other hand was fantastic, some of the levels were 3-4 hours long, the sense of scale and of isolation was back to the brilliance of the originals, not to mention the sense of danger which is completely lacking in Uncharted due to checkpoints existing every 5 feet.

As for Underworld, I'm really hoping it will be as good. My concern is that the platforming has been simplified to pander to the Uncharted crowd, something which was implied in an IGN preview months ago. Also for some reason Lara looks barely any different to how she did in Anniversary, which I played on the PS2. I think some of the visuals will suffer because after all Underworld is also coming to PS2 and Wii.

You do realise that the effect of clothes being wet was present in Tomb Raider Legend, i.e. long before Uncharted? Uncharted was not the first to do it and I doubt they've removed it for Underworld.

Don't you get it, Redcoat222?  Uncharted was released for the PS3 a year ago!  The PS3!!!  No attempt by any other developer anywhere, ever, will compare to Uncharted.  Think about it:  The epic storyline.  The unique gameplay.   The nearly infinite replayability!  And the graphics!!!!  THE GRAPHICS!!!!  I honestly believe that video game technology has gotten WORSE since 2007.  No game short of another PS3 exclusive can hope to compete.

Im not going to trust fanboys on this, Im going to go to my friends house and play it personally..

Looks absolutely incredible, is this a timed exclusive?

Not at all. In November, it's gonna be for ALL consoles -even the PS2!
