This is an awful thread.

The next-gen platforms from Sony and MS will go way beyond what the PS3/360 can do visually. Way beyond. Please tell me you don't think things look so good now that there's nowhere to go... The designs for the next consoles are already well underway in terms of planning and what not. They won't be going backwards or standing still in terms of tech. Well, atleast not Sony or Microsoft.

It'll be a miracle if the next Nintendo system even reaches PS3 level graphics. God knows that Nintendo will not even try to keep up with the tech curve. I wouldn't be surprised to see their next console be only slightly more powerful that what the Wii is now. When it should atleast be about 1.5x the power of the PS3. Cost wise, they should be able to make system slightly more powerful than PS3, at $250 retail, and still make a profit in 3-4 years when it comes time for a new machine.

With all the money Nintendo has made and will make this gen, they sure as hell better step it up for the next machine in terms of tech.

You have seriously no clue. It's been everything but officially announced that the next system will pwn with the graphics. Where have you been hiding, Mr. Anti-Ninty?

Do you seriously think Nintendo will go back down the GFX = PWNAGE!!!!11 path next gen? I think you might have no clue my friend, it will be powerful graphically but nobody can claim that they no what will happen yet, this IS Nintendo we are talking about here at least.

Of course it will - the P$3 is far behind what computers of the same price can do.

http://www.geekpatrol.ca/2006/11/playstation-3-performance/ estimates the Cell Broadband Engine's performance for normal tasks (not using the very-hard-to-program-for SPEs) is slightly worse than the Power Mac G5, itself a superseded core.

The only reason these cores (in a P$3) are being considered for use in super computers is because Sony's selling them at a loss in the first place.

Sony selling them at a loss is the "only" reason that cells are being considered, or do you mean deployed, in super, yeah zarking SUPER computers. they're not even the primary manufacture. you're right that dumbass little IBM doesn't know what the hell they're doing. you fanboy comeback with something more substantial. i always try to get my super computers at discount. also, any of you stupid enough to listen to ANY of these companies hype should be shot in the head. this is so stupid.............sigh

Games will probably reach the point where it looks like your watching TV, then we will all rejoice because OBVIOUSLY graphics make the best games??

Feh...

BTW, did you know that "One" frame of Transformers took like 38 hours to render???

Really? Wow...

So 120 minute movie... 24 frames a second...

Who knew the movie took 750 YEARS to make! wow...

Yes, they have a renderfarm, but 38 hours for the entire farm to do a single frame? Don't make me laugh, if they are talking a single server from that farm, that statistic is unless without specs, not to mention the farms use only the CPU not a dedicated graphics.

I'm not saying that any home computer today could do anywhere near as good rendering as transformers in realtime, just saying the 38fph is a meaningless statistic.

More than likely Nintendo will go with a system capable of much better graphics next gen. They passed on it this gen because the costs are quite high and the number of people who utilize the PS3 and 360 graphics without upgrading other hardware (TVs) are still quite low. By the next generation, the HD market will be much larger so continuing with subpar graphics will likely not work. In 6-7 years, I'd expect a Wii with similar graphics to the current 360 & PS3 with even better waggle controls around a $300 price. MS and Sony will probably surpass those graphics, but I believe the "last gen" graphics will be perfectly fine for the majority of casual gamers, just like currently the last gen graphics thus far are acceptable by many.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

No, they won't go down that path.

The path they'll go down is the path of, "Well, we have to improve our system. So, we're going to take the strategy that obviously worked with the Wii, do a little tweaking to perfect it... oh wait, that barely changes anything! Okay, well, it's gotta look better."

It's basically obvious that they'll make a powerful system. Seriously. They're not going to change their strategy with the controls any (save for some fine-tuning based on their studies on the Wii that are going on as we speak). They'll probably include more storage space (maybe even a hard drive?), maybe a better sensor-bar concept (dual IR emitter/sensor?), and be left with nothing else to improve except graphics.

Of course they'll still keep it cheap - $200-$250 at release - but in 2011/2012, graphics that are 1.3-1.5x the power of PS3 should be easy to meet and keep the console less than $250. We ARE talking five years down the road, after all.

How did this thread get this far...

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

This thread is one of the funniest we have ever had.  I even made some comments earlier.

Because the way the site is set up to bump it to the front page entices us to continue it.  That is how you make a thread last, make rediculous statements in the title, then people will keep posting with out reading more than one or two of the posts.  Most won't even read the OP.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I think that's a rather silly question.

Question: IS ANYTHING MORE POWERFUL THAN THE CELL?!?!

Answer: Um, if nothing else couldn't the PS4 just use two Cells?

Graphics won't be considered perfect until it's photorealistic. We are at least ten years away from that
