I can not believe how much "discussion" this is bringing up.

To answer the original question, of course there will be better graphics next gen. There is still (albeit little) room for improvement.

Regarding "4D", clearly half of you failed physics. The fourth dimension is time. Which means either the PR people at Sony are idiots or they're relying on the people who latch onto such buzzwords to be idiots.

I honestly can't believe this thread is still going.

It's definitely the latter.

You can't imagine the number of friends I have that childishly yell at me how powerful and marvelous the PS3 is... but then I just throw them some swift facts about its hardware... and then they are all let-down... priceless! :'D

This is an awful thread.

The next-gen platforms from Sony and MS will go way beyond what the PS3/360 can do visually. Way beyond. Please tell me you don't think things look so good now that there's nowhere to go... The designs for the next consoles are already well underway in terms of planning and what not. They won't be going backwards or standing still in terms of tech. Well, atleast not Sony or Microsoft.

It'll be a miracle if the next Nintendo system even reaches PS3 level graphics. God knows that Nintendo will not even try to keep up with the tech curve. I wouldn't be surprised to see their next console be only slightly more powerful that what the Wii is now. When it should atleast be about 1.5x the power of the PS3. Cost wise, they should be able to make system slightly more powerful than PS3, at $250 retail, and still make a profit in 3-4 years when it comes time for a new machine.

With all the money Nintendo has made and will make this gen, they sure as hell better step it up for the next machine in terms of tech.

I totally agree with you on the topic of this thread being ridiculous. Why bother even creating it then? It's one of those things that you see that is so stupid you have to look lol! I even posted in it! shame on me hahaha

Just kiss the tip.

Holy crap, I agree with Your Mother. (I kid.)

This is a dumb thread. No the PS3 is not any where near as detailed as the meat realm or even most breakity-box 360 games. And I own a PS3.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

?

You disagree ("I kid") but then you go and say what I've been saying?

Where's the bewildered emoticon?

The 360 has shown its potential through gears of war stated by epic.

P.S.

and your're right: by the way technology is going backward...so we'll never see anything better than GT5...Cell is actually alien technology and probably NVIDIA has lost its RSX projects so the same level of graphics won't be achieved ever (or at least 'till Bill Gates doesn't find a wreck of an alien spaceship in his garden...did you know that the last one was found by Sony CEO?.. lucky bastard!)

Of course it will - the PS3 is far behind what computers of the same price can do.

http://www.geekpatrol.ca/2006/11/playstation-3-performance/ estimates the Cell Broadband Engine's performance for normal tasks (not using the very-hard-to-program-for SPEs) is slightly worse than the Power Mac G5, itself a superseded core.

Ubuntu. Linux for human beings.

If you are interested in trying Ubuntu or Linux in general, PM me and I will answer your questions and help you install it if you wish.

Lol did someone seriously not consider the fourth dimension to be time?

Time is not constant as well, as in, 1 minute everywhere doesn't necessarily mean 1 minute in another place.

Look at the sky at night - those stars you are seeing may have exploded 100 years ago yet you see them still there now.

Or what about the fact that we are constantly living in a repeating moment of the past... by the time our brain has received the electrical current from our eyes and has interpreted the image for us giving us the image of 'now' over and over again it really was a minute miniscule of time before that the actual thing we were looking at took place.

I love 4D :)

No, no, no, I insist you are right.

Ontopic: I don't really understand what OriGin is trying to say.  Is he trying to redefine the 4th dimension so that the PS3 will fit the hype?  I am pretty sure that when someone say 4d or the 4th dimension they mean time.  So a game console is not 4D, it's not even really 3D because it only simulates 3D images on a 2D plane, our TV screens.  3D glasses and Stereoscopes are only simulating 3D also, trinking our brains in to thinking there is some depth.  Speaking of depth this thread lacks it.

You have seriously no clue. It's been everything but officially announced that the next system will pwn with the graphics. Where have you been hiding, Mr. Anti-Ninty?

Hey dude my post has depth... it's DEEP man.

I was just blabbing pointless shit about time to try and make people think.
