There shouldn't be much guessing involved here.

Over the last 4 weeks, the Wii has outsold the 360 by:

 - 180k (last week)

 - 210k

 - 155k

 - 170k (4 weeks ago)

...

Next week will be a biggie for the Wii (in Japan), so that's a 210k week. That leaves 410k remaining.

At best it could then be 2 weeks - but I think it will be 3 (much more likely). Especially with Madden hitting in the US, odd things could happen.

So in 4 weeks from now, the Wii will definitely be ahead of the 360 - barring a minor miracle from MS.

So that makes it (week ending) August 19th. Figures will be out mid-following week, and by the time the Jap charts are out - it will be certain.

If Ninty release more consoles than usual, there is a distinct chance it could be the previous week.

(sort of ironic that once this happens, Metroid is released to "finish them off"... I wonder if Nintendo scheduled Metroid for this event :>).

Let the one month countdown begin!

i would say 19th august but if the rumours of an xbox 360 price cut are true than i think these will boost sales just enough to hold of the wii for an extra week. and if there isnt a price cut there are still big games coming out anyway for the 360.

Im tempted to say august the fifth (seeing as the difference is 700,000 consoles as of july 22 AND japan sales are still not counted). lets say it is 620,000 difference then.
And with mario party and srikers coming out in different regions soon, I can see a fair hardware boost becuase of the stockpiling going on.

I went a bit on a calculating spree and I will say at this moment august the 19th.
Rest is to early it's atm closing the gap world wide at 189 units more.
