Nice Starcraft, but I seriously doubt that Sony bails out after this generation. They tasted the blood of PS1 and PS2 success and they will desperately be trying to get it back.

But you better believe that they will try to "borrow" from the success of their gaming brothers and try to find a unique money making (proprietary) gimmick to stick into the system. And they will definitely not create such lost leading system again. I honestly believe they may even stick with the Cell and keep cost down for 3rd party developers who have invested engines into the system.

But then again they could come back still arrogant and full of themselves, create another different architecture and put an unproven expensive proprietary device into the system, causing it to be too expensive for normal consumers and alienating the developers who don't have more dedicated resources into one of three (four if Apple does joins the fight) consoles on the market. Hell they can't even get it into their heads that $500, no matter what is in the box, is too expensive for a console in this market.

Did I miss the memo that this is Hate Sony week? In any case, this is one of the weakest anti-Sony articles I've seen posted recently. I especially love the claim that the 360 is to blame for the PS3's woes.

Sony doesn’t need the gaming part if it’s not profitable in compression to Nintendo who does. Nintendo is only games wile Sony has other divisions so they might quit.
But being rich makes you stupid sometimes, it makes you arrogant and more risk taking then normal. Now they have to pay the price :P

This is not like the Nintendo days because they made profit on every console sold. Sony is losing allot on every console sold. Those who mentioned the end of Nintendo were ignorant fools who never thought about the profit.

Also, the XBOX wasn't profitable, didn't stop Microsoft from making a second one did it?  Hell, MS was 3-4 billion in debt?  SCE may have lost all the PS2 money, but they still have the 2 billion or so the PS1 made.  So we'll see at least two more systems from them.  The next one that may or may not waste the PS1 money, and then one last effort.
