Fable 2 has 18 90+ reviews so far.

You've been on the LBP side of the whole Fable 2 vs LBP fanboy fiasco from the start.

At least you aren't an ignorant hypocrite like the OP. Be careful with who you agree with though.

Blaming Fable 2 reviews(which have been quite great, actually...) for this userreview fiasco when the userreviews for every other PS3 game are like that, is completely ignorant and wrong. You realize this, however in the future, I wish I wouldn't have to spell everything out for you like this.

Now, the reality about Fable 2 vs LBP is this:

Everyone expected LBP to outscore Fable 2 in reviews. That's not spin or damage control, that's reality. Most knowledgable people expected it. Now, yes, some people expected Fable 2 to score 90 percent on metacritic, but an equal amount of them hated on the game(PS3 fans mostly) saying that it would dissapoint on what it promised, like Fable 1. Fable 2, however, promised less than Fable 1 and delivered far more. 89 was close enough to the 9/10 the developer promised us. Nobody cancelled their preorders, trust me. I'm sure a large number of people expected LBP to be in the top 10 on gamerankings. 94 is close enough. Nobody cancelled their preorders because of reviews.

To pretend that either one of these games isn't great, or that one of them "flopped" is pure unadulterated fanboyism.

As far as comparing them, LBP had better reviews, yes. However, we are comparing apples and oranges here. Would you rather play a great rpg or a really great platformer? Yes, this gen, we've had higher rated platformers and higher rated rpgs. That doesn't mean that these games are somehow deficient. I wish that PS3 fans would stop trying to hold down one, to raise another.

I like to use this example. I'm not a big fan of puzzle games. I like narrative and in game building, not building of my mental capacities. Thus, I would rather play an 8/10 jrpg than a 10/10 puzzle game. I dunno if I'd rather play a 9/10 RPG or a 9.5/10 2d Platformer, but to be honest, I'd love to play them both. Apples and oranges.

I agree with a few of your statements although I find it very distasteful the fact that you feel the need to attack PS3 fans in a lot of your posts nowadays. Not every fan is "completely opposing Fable 2." In fact, I'd imagine a lot of PS3 fans actually would like to have a 360 so they could play Fable 2. Also, Nintendo and Microsoft fanboys can be just as irritating in these forums but you never seem to attack them, no matter how irrational or irrelevant they are to their post at hand.

I'm sorry, I have personal issues alright. I'm not meaning to do this, but I am quite defensive, and in this case, I was justified...though I was admittedly overly harsh, which I apologize for. I've been seeing some trolling on the Fable 2 review thread and when I read this malarkie, I just snapped.

Also...less often now than before, but I still do the occasional horrible flame towards non-PS3 fanboys.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Damn.... this is a fanboy assault......

SO what if LBP was getting better scores?? Does it mean that you will end up enjoying FableTwo less than you would have with LBP getting lower scores???

4 ≈ One

It's sad to think that brand names and console wars are more important to many "gamers" than the actual games available.

Fanboys giving 0s to games they've not played are just stupid. And yet, I see how people are angry at LBPs score: As I read most LBP reviews, the score doesn't seem to match the text in the review. Look at IGN's: The controls are iffy, the levels of depth frustrating, the levels as they come are not all that long, and not all of them are very good. There's an editor, with a lot of possibilities, but it's a hassle to use, so you'll probably spend more time playing other people's levels than making your own. Oh, and most levels out there are pretty bad, with even the best of them being short diversions. Still, the graphics are great, and the game is pretty fun, so 9.5 it is!

I've yet to see a review of LBP that reads as a 9+ review, regardless of its score. That's why I'm wary of it.

+1 to Zen for typing so many words. Made my afternoon slightly more entertaining. Anyone else think that LBP vs Fable 2 is goofy on its face? I think that the only real similarity (other than the original release date) is the amount of hype each received. I think that PS3 fans should be a little bit sad for not getting a chance to play Fable, just as 360 fans should be a little sad for not being able to play LBP. All signs point to LBP being huge!

masschamber, you are the one and only person who has said that that i have heard. I take it you played it?

I played the beta for over 3 hours, and it was terrible, I'm sure other people don't like it and if you read the reviews they're always well, the level editor is lacking and the actually platforming isn't very good BUT 10/10 IT"S TEH BEZT GAME EVAR ANYWAY seriously the game is getting reviews because it has fabulous art in the backgrounds and that's it

BTW, if anyone wants to take the time to read my last post, you're in for a treat.

Uh... but you failed at every point... he IS rigth.  Fable in its own gender is not that great, it does not need to be compared to anything, well meaby zelda. And youre first point is interesting, can you propose a theory, who did voted 0's? oh.. not the 360 fans, please who?.... yes yes the nintendo fans, angry because this will make the ps3 sell more than the wii... or meaby the ps3 fans voted 0's yes that makes sence

Marc Doyle, Games Editor: My advice for our faithful users is to focus your attention on the Metascore for this game and not the thousands of user votes, most of which have been submitted before said users have played the game. This is a gaming community, and if people want to stuff the ballot box, there's not much I can do at this point. When we upgrade the registration requirements for participation on the site in the near future, this type of thing won't happen. We'll post the full legitimate user reviews upon the game's release. As always, thanks for using the site.

Note:- This happened "before" the anounced delay by sony for the LBP game. I just got back from a conference so I couldn't post it.

For those who actually missed out a bit on what happened:

A few days ago, the flagship game of the Playstation 3 system, Little Big Planet (LBP) was delayed. It was scheduled to launch on the same day as the highly anticipated game on the Xbox 360 system by the name of Fable 2. For several months now, fans of both system have been preaching about the superiority of either game even though they are completely and entirely different genres. Hence, while the game couldn't be compared on the technical aspects, both X360 and PS3 fanboys stated arguing(pathetic I know...) about which game would actually get higher sales or scores.

As I scour across the VG forums, I cannot help but stumble on the countless threads about those predictions and make it a point not to post in any of them so as not to encourage the fanatism. It goes to prove my point as to the extent both sides are willing to go to try to vindicate their way of thoughts.

However, nothing beats the following:

As the situation unravelled itself, It became increasingly clear with the release of the LBP and Fable demos, which games would be getting the better reviews. Post fan experience after they have played portions of the game either justified or nullified the hype surrounding the game. A couple of weeks ago, the first reviews flew in and quite unsurprisingly (even though I'm a massive fan of the first fable), LBP recieved universal acclaim while Fable II did not. Many fans including the "most prominent" x360 loyalists on these forums with several thousands posts to their names have been touting Fable II to be the RPG of the year. Clearly, it is not. Obviously, they have failed to deliver.

A great many X360/Fable II fans found themselves in this situation and when looking at the Metacritic score and discovering the trend of official media reviews indicating 95+ for LBP and less than 89- for Fable II, they started sabotaging the user scores and started voting for LBP with a 0 presumably even before playing the game.

This prompted metacritic to issue the statement above, upset about how the presumed fans abused the system. This will be a good thing though, as it appears it has encouraged them to modify the way votes are gathered.

Feel free to contribute :) I for myself am waiting for the release of WKC. Not because I intend to buy the game but because this time, it is the PS3 fanboys that are touting it as the RPG of the year. If it is indeed the case, so much the better for them but if it is a flop... I will enjoy laughing! ^^ Anyone wants to say WKC will be huge?

I'm sorry, but are you implying that the 360 fanboys on this site decided to head over to metacritic and rate LBP at 0 to lower the "user" review score? Just because Fable II is 1 point away from AAA title?

If so I'm calling you a tool! If not then I apologize because it sounds so absurd and immature that it actually insults me.

For the record - Yes a big part of the 360 community touted Fable II to be RPG of the year... Why would you be surprised of stumbling on these predictions? Like you mentioned you where a HUGE fan of the original.

Also who failed to deliver what? Lionhead failed to deliver the RPG of the Year? Really does any other RPG have a higher score then Fable II?  You mention WKC, but when is that coming out? not this year for us Western/European peeps. Fallout 3 looks like the next possible contender and guess what happens if Fallout 3 is named RPG of the year?

Go ahead guess!!

The 360 will have the Best and Second Best RPG of the year..
