Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wario Land: Shake It - Zack & Wiki meets Super Mario Bros.

At first I was leary of this title, it looked like the typical mediocrity to grace the Wii's library. Out of boredom, I put the 50 dollars into this investment and gave it a try. The game is a unique addition to the Wario Land franchise, literally a cross between Super Mario Bros., the intelligent puzzles of Zach & Wiki and a Speed Run through a Metroid Game, its phenomenal!

The game starts out slow and easy, but as you progress the difficulty and true genius of its design emerges. After beating the game you unlock the ability to try out super challenging levels, the maps to which are hidden through out the previous levels you've been through. Each level not only has three hidden treasures in it but a speed run back to the beginning after reaching its end and anywhere from three to seven challenges in each level to push you to your limits of skill and ingenuity. Solving the puzzles in this game require you to think so far out of the box sometimes that it will leave you in awe at the simple genius of the challenge. The sense of achievement you get from pushing yourself beyond what you thought you were capable of in this game is right up there with challenging games like Zack & Wiki's Post End Game Treasures, Melee & Brawl's trophies and Super Mario Galaxy's Purple Coin challenge.

At least Rent this game and give it a good long play, me thinks you will like it.

Wow! you liked it that much? i was thinking of asking to get this game for Christmas..but i wasn't sure cause of the short length

At the name of YESHUA, EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth (Philippians 2:10)

I have the biggest Wishlist on VGchartz

I enjoyed it a lot, but it doesn't come close to Wario Land 1-3 and to a lesser extent 4.

How long is the game?

You can easily beat the game in less than 10 hours, but that's not really the end objective of the game. The point of this game is to complete all the missions in each level and finding all the hidden items. I've easily put well more than 40 hours into this game trying to get everything.

Their is a gameplay time counter on the save file, but I think it only records certain parts of play, like completing a mission instead of repeatedly retrying missions or dying.

30-40 hours easily to do everything in the game and complete all the objectives (you know, actually playing the game).

5-10 hours to beat the game if you just plow through it with no other objective than finishing the levels.

^ Damn, i'm really considering getting this game then.

I wholeheartedly agree. I get really annoyed when I see reviews that give it like, 6 or 7, complaining that it's too short. You can clearly tell they never even tried to play the game to it's potential, but just rushed through it. Of course it won't be much fun if you just rush right through it :x

I'm still trying to 100% it, got lots of stuff left (Like those purple levels that are really hard :P). Lots and lots of fun!

Yea the game is pretty great, havent finished it myself, but still fun to play.

Get your Portable ID!

That seems common for Nintendo titles. After beating the game, you'll be revisiting to get 100%.
