Pioneer has just created a 16 layer Blu-ray disc that can hold 400gbs of data in it.This will be a huge news for PS3 as it will give developer huge space for development of graphic. There will now be a huge margin between the games of PS3 and the games of the other consoles

Can PS3 read 16 layers?

Is there even a point in using up that much space on a Blu-Ray disc? As far as I know, there are very few games (I only know of one, that is MGS4) that even uses up the full 50GB that is the current disc capacity...

All of that memory?  That's going to be one hell of a graphic!!

Not really...game quality definitely is not guaranteed to increase as game size increases.
Right now there's simply no need to use that much space for a game..

...and unless the disk is filled with high definition pre-rendered cutscenes, no developer would be able to finish a 400gb game within the PS3's lifespan.

...also going to be one hell of a loading screen.

Pioneer inventer sixteen 25GB Blu-Ray discs in one in one disk which sounds great untill you hear the limitation...the optical drive can only see 25GB at a time.

So to use it, you will maually have to switch to layer 1,2,3...

How long does it take to develop a game that uses even the 50 gig now available? and you want them to use 400gigs!!

It is of little to no use except for maybe lazy or inefficient programmers.

Do you really think video games improvements will stop under the size of 50gig?

They will know Helgan belongs to Helghasts

Holy mother****! I don't see this becoming too important for games, but damn this has possibilities!

400gbs !!!!
So how many movies can it holds ????
