Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Phoenix Wright a console seller? Hell yes!

The serious is pure awesome IMO. Different most other games, it's nice to play something different every once in a while.

Sorry to derail this thread further, but I totally forgot about the most successful point&click adventure series on DS (maybe because I haven't played it yet as the first game is STILL not released in Europe):

Professor Layton.

Two games already released, the third one in the making. Again, a series originally developed for DS by a renowned Japanese company - proves my point about best p&c games coming from Japan even more.

And the music is really good too - the only thing I hate is why they insist on reworking the cornered tune every game, they just got it right the first time. It's got that "owning you, right now!" epic theme they destroyed with posterior variations.

I liked T&T's version better.

Trial theme in TaT was amazing as well:

I totally agree with the OP, and I ADORE these kind of games. :) The Phoenix Wright games, Hotel Dusk, Trace Memory, Professor Layton... man those are all awesome. :) I wish they'd make a few of those games for Wii. :D

Phoenix Wright is great. For some reason I started with Justice for All and am now playing Trials and Tribulations. Will have to get the 1st game somewhere..

and yeah, NoE sucks, but that's old news.

The first one is specially great because it's a 5 case game unlike the others which are 4 case long. For the DS re-release they made a new chapter on which they specifically used the touch input to spice things up. There's some of that too in the 4th game (the first made entirely for the DS).

A couple others I thought of:

- Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles is also out. I meant to pick it up, although reviews have been decidedly pretty bad. For $20 it might be worth a go.

- Also I am planning to pick up Time Hollow around Christmas, another point and click. It's out now though.

- The Strongbad games on WiiWare are also point and click but I've not personally played.

- Touch Detective and Touch Detective 2 1/2. I grabbed 2/12 for $10 brand new but haven't spent a lot of time with it.

Prior to the DS I never played any games like these, but they are truly among my favorites at this point. I was probably the only one excited when on the Japanese Nintendo Conference, they announced a sequel to Trace Memory (by Cing, who is responsible for the first game and Hotel Dusk- amazing developers!)

Phoenix Wright is one of my favs franchise ... i didn't knew so many Point&Click adventure games were coming, is nice to hear that...some of those games i haven't played, so i will start buying some of those Professor Layton specially
