I love lost too but season 4 sucked , too fictional IMO

As opposed to the realistic nature of the first three seasons?

I would probably say Lost is my favorite ever. There are a lot of great unner ups though. I personally think TV is at an all time quality high and I'm starting to enjoy it a lot more than movies nowadays. Mad Men is amazing drama in particular.

I keep hearing good things about Mad Men. I need to watch it one of these days.

Courtesy of Rubang, I'm going through Twin Peaks again right now. Watching the first episode now. That should keep me busy for quite some time.

Why is there absolutely no love for The Sopranos? Why??

If you get a rabid enough fanbase, they can tear down every piece of Charlie's Angels and find meaning in it. That doesn't mean that there was intended meaning behind it and even if there was, it doesn't mean that meaning was terribly clever or artistic to begin with.

Lost hinges on hiding things from the viewer and revealing plot details as the writers see fit. You may think that's high art but I sure don't. I think it's a rather lazy way of artificially generating intrigue.

Nice way to refute my argument by calling it "bullshit", though. I love how people can get so riled up whenever anyone calls anything about their favorite series/game/movie and its artistic integrity into question. Shit, I've admitted several times in this thread that I enjoy the show and have seen every episode multiple times. It's not as if I'm saying it's a piece of shit.

Wait, why do I get the feeling that I'm reliving one of my umpteen MGS4 conversations all over again?

That's exactly what I was going to say.  The same things are said about MGS4 as are being said about Lost in this thread.  People fail to realize the difference between complexity and depth.  Anyone can make a story that's so complex and contrived that you can't even follow it hardly.  However, that doesn't make it smart, it just makes it confusing.  I'm reading Hamlet right now, and it makes Lost's issues stand out all the more blatantly.  I'm not saying it's a bad show; I, like RocketPig, enjoy the show.  It's just not as intelligent as some people make it out to be.

Lost and Battlestar Galactica (the new one) are at a tie for me

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

If you need a good place to watch TV over the net(legally) just give me a holler on PM.

Finally someone else mentions Twin Peaks...

I liked Firefly. Pity it was cancelled and the movie was really good.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I'm torn between Good Eats and The Bob Newhart Show.
