Actually the Ms has more ground to stay in gaming than Sony, while MS is losing money as well, they have money to burn, sony doesn't, Sony is actually in quite a precarious situation when it comes to the amount of money the PS3 is costing them and their investors. I guess you can also argue MS has a goal connected with their stake in gaming. Outside of Blu-Ray, I don't see what Sony stands to gain from remaining in the market.

I didn't realize sony was off the map of big companies prior to the PS. And face it, they're sacrificing the PS3 because if blu-ray replaced DVD, they will make FAR more money down the line. Will the PS3 die? Not necessarily but  they had to know they were giving up a lot of sales in order to get the blu-ray out there.



To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

Even though it has been claimed that 'Sony will make more money off of Blu-Ray than off of the PS3' I have never seen any numbers to back that up and highly doubt the claim; certainly licencing fees on DVD/Blu-Ray may be quite large but there are a lot of companies to split that with.

I honestly expect that Sony believed they could push Blu-Ray with the PS3 without having any negative impact on the PS3's sales ... They potentially believed that people would get a 'second job' and the PS3 would be more popular than the PS3 because of the inclusion of Blu-Ray

Sarcasm? Or are you insinuating this is the beginning of the end as for the 360 to be this vulnerable at any point shows its lead is too weak to last?

 I can't wait to see what happens on the first week the 360 overtakes the PS3 again, permanent or otherwise.  The people who were yelling out "The 360 is dead because the PS3 is outselling it!" will have some new excuse as to why the same logic can't be reversed at them.

MS won't cut the price? Why not? They're transitioning to 65nm and it has been long speculated that they started making money on the Pro early this year.

But, of course, Sony and Nintendo can cut their console prices but it's unfathomable for MS, a company with 10x the equity of either of them, to do the same.

Sarcasm but I do think the PS3 is gonna outsell the 360 worldwide for the next 2 months or so till Halo 3 hits.

If Sony can't hold this until Halo 3 is out then they are in a lot of trouble. PS3 has some momentum, but, September - February will tell a huge story... If PS3 can't hold it's own this season they are in huge problems, if 360 loses the holiday they still have a lead to work with.

Ninentendo is playing a different game. They will have no problems until Sony or MS really go after them. But, right now Sony and MS are battling it out and Ninetendo is going past them.
