Can't say it wasn't expected.

These price cuts are the end of the 360 in Europe and Japan. The price is so low now that any further price cuts will do little to spur sales in these territories. Once the spike dies down fully, the 360 will be stuck selling sub-50k a week in Europe for the rest of the generation, and in Japan it will be sub-5k, aside from a small spike due to the Last Remnant, and a much larger spike from Star Ocean 4.

North America is the only territory in which price cuts might still be effective for the 360. Compare this to the ps3, which is still very expensive in all regions, and has plenty to gain from future price cuts.

People proclaiming doom and gloom for the ps3 after the 360's recent price cuts were rather short sighted.

well, they can still lower it to $99.00. it would get a nice bump for a whole 3 weeks straight.  But, i still expect huge numbers this holiday for the 360. In a bad economy, the 360 is a huge deal for parents. The PS3 might suffer however for its high price.

with lbp coming out next week, i have some serious doubts about the 360 retaining it's weekly lead over the ps3. oh how i love competition.

And of course Fable 2 is also out so let's just wait and see, then Gears 2, Xbox Live Experience, resistance 2, etc oh dear

Hang on a minute !, instead of all this spin, let's wait until the Christmas sales are over and see how things shape up because this is just getting childish.
November game releases will show who shifts the most consoles from the big game releases and December consoles for Christmas presents.

Though the Wii has already won before it even starts even though I don't think they have any big games for November do they ?.

last time i saw somebody type that...well...check january and february 08 sales.

What has Jan Feb 08 sales got to do with Jan Feb 09 sales ANSWER = ABSOLOUTLY NOTHING.. So what's your point ?..

my point is that people were saying the exact same thing last year on this very website- "wait until after the holidays to see how things really shape up for the ps3". nobody thought the ps3 would hold up after the holidays, and guess what happened? the ps3 outsold the 360 for the first half of this year. the only thing that stopped it was a price cut for the 360, which is slowly losing it's effect.

I will answer this plain and simple ignoring your price cut effect bit, where did I say the PS3 in the comment above ? I said (more or less)" instead of just pointless arguing wait until after November and December to see how things shape up for the consoles"

I think we can all agree that much like John McCain the 360 is done. He tried, but his best just wasn't good enough.

Maybe next generation he'll have another go.

Yeah I wanted to say what Lol Mature said...They can still drop the arcade and give the other Sku's a pricedrop.

i strongly disagree. any further price cuts won't do the 360 anymore good in my opinion.

Yeah you are right but I think though they rather drop the arcade and give the other sku's a price drop then just let it die.

but you see, that's the thing - you're only saying that because you can't put forth a good arguement as to why the 360 sales aren't so great right now, post price cut. so you leave it to the future. the classic rookie excuse/mistake that most ps3 fanboys were using all of last year.

Both the PS3 and the 360 are done. Neither of them will surpass the Wii. In regards to the 360 v. the PS3, I do not think it is over.

PSP and PS3 selling 70+ and 60+ respectivly week after week with bearly very few releases.

360 HW boost slowing down.

DS and Wii on top.

Overall Decent but predicable week.

4 ≈ One

Funny how even some Sony fans were saying recently that the PS3 needed a price cut or it was finished. Now, one week of reduced demand for the 360 spells the end for that console.

PS3 is doing amazingly well at it's price point and I never believed that it needed a price cut because of the games that are due to be released in the Xmas run-up.

There is no way of hiding that this is a disappointing week for the 360 but it could all change very quickly with the exclusives being released over the next couple of months and the Xmas rush to fill stockings. You can't predict a console's future on one week's sales.

This holiday season could be a pivotal point in the console wars (for second place). However I think both the 360 and PS3 will continue to have comparable worldwide sales for the next year at least.

Link to the quote where someone said ps3 need a price cut to complete and a link to a quote from the same exact person who said 360 is doomed in this thread please.

We all knew it was going to happen the 360 price cut was going to die down so what? This is the PS3 strongest region and the 360 is outselling it there thats all that matter the 360 is holding is going to be adding on the its WW lead again this week. Also people saying the 360 is dead in europe thats just stupid....It just sold more then the PS3 for the 3rd week in a row its far from dead and its big market games havent even hit yet and neither have the holidays so please stop this microsoft is dead nonsence lol....
