Forums - Microsoft Discussion - "Falcon" much closer than even thought?

Funny how I just posted in the other thread how it surprised me that MS took so long to get to 65nm because IBM has been using the process for nearly a year already. Then I see this thread... This makes much more sense. You figure 4-6 months for IBM to retool the 360 chip to 65nm, MS to redesign the mobo, ATI to redesign the GPU, and you come up right around May... Sounds logical to me.

As for the Elite in Europe, it hasn't been priced yet. It would be a real kicker to see MS roll out the new price points worldwide when the Elite hits the Continent.

The guy has made a couple new comments:

This was in response to another insider stating there would probably be some machines produced that have say, the CPU at 65nm and the GPU at 90nm and vice versa..

Post #5 " -You are correct--The GPU 65nm chip process is a little ahead of the CPU 65nm tracks by a couple of months. With the CPU tracks only now started ramping up."

And also in response to a question if the external power brick would be removed:

Post #6 "With the new augmentations being made power will be cut by more than half of it's original output. Yes the brick will be gone."

Also in another thread he has stated that in place of X07 MS will be doing some sort of live event over Xbox Live, and show the games that way. He said he wasn't able to give any links, but mentioned this qoute:

--"Microsoft's representative at E3 in a press conference dedicated exclusively to details about live hinted of a major update coming this October to Xbox live. He stated that something really big would instore for October dashboard update. CheapyD, who was an attendee at the press meeting tried to get some more details from the represetatative but all he acquired out of the rep was that is would be bigger than just a dashboard update - more on the scale of Video Marketplace "Huge".

So someone asked "--Maybe a Live, always on, 'channel'? One with 24/7 programming? "

And he replied again: "That's a very good assessment. But it's not a channel."

I hope half the stuff your saying is true. I'd like to trade in my used 360 for a brand new one that consumes less power.

Does the 65nm MB have the HDMI connection. I'm fixing to buy a digital scaler that accepts 2 component inputs and 2 hdmi inputs, and I have a PS2, the Wii, and the 360 to hook up to it.

Witty signature here...

Wii: 14 million by January  I sold myself short

360: 13 million by January I sold microsoft short, but not as bad as Nintendo.

PS3: 6 million by January. If it approaches 8 mil i'll eat crow  Mnn Crow is yummy.

With these results, I've determined that I suck at long term predictions, and will not long term predict anything ever again. Thus spaketh Crono.

If the new chipset is in the Halo Edition 360 I may get it. I was gonna get an Elite but since the Halo 360 has HDMI I don't need to spend the extra money. That's also if the Halo Edition is set at the same price as the Premium.

Shit green console FTW!

"This is happening over the course of 6 months. It started in May already. When Xenos went to 65nm. Now that MS has bled the retailer space dry. They are ready to start putting the new hardware on shelves. Retailers already know when the price drop will hit."

I am not sure I would be believing this after this post... normally when retailers find out when a price drop is going to hit the information leaks. I am pretty sure we would have heard something from some other source then some random guy on a website...

There's this.

"I have a very good source within a major Canadian retailer that guarantees that despite the lack of a cut at E3 this week, the Xbox 360 will drop $100 across all SKU's. When? Sooner than you think. AUGUST 1ST."

Well, we'll find this out soon enough too. I don't know that anyone believes that the 360 will stay at the same price with the same models for the rest of 2007 so at least it has some plausibility.
