So they want bundles ?

What real gamers want is Halo GTA GranTurismo Killzone FinalFantasy MGS.

I think gamers are telling all their friends to just wait until next year for PS3. The price will be lower, and more games will be out.

I mean, they've had like 4 different versions of the PS3 on sale / announced since launch, and one got discontinued and the other one got lower in price. So, just wait till holidays 08, maybe you can pick up a PS3 for $349.

I know thats what we real gamers want, but the sells speak for them selfs. Most people want Wii sports and other stupid games. I think it's time you exepted that Wii is the new champ.

I think many of you fail to realize that the PS3's sudden surge is not solely due to the price drop. It has some pretty amazing bundles at that $500 price point at a few places. If it was only $500 with no bundling its sales would be below 360 again since there are still only 2 really good games out. By end of August however, it may jump of and nest around 35k to 40k though as you finally have some decent games.

Warhawk and Haze are likely to be the only games I am going in for PS3 this year... I was excited for several more but there are just too many good games coming out this year for 360 and PS3.

I really think the only BIG system movers will be GTAIV and Halo 3 this year (as far as next gen, Wii is in a whole different category.) But all the good games in general should jump start hardware sales.

(edit: forgot to post on topic. :P 35 - 30 - 25.... then when Madden hits(boom) and  with subsequent releases sales will build into the holidays.)

Directly AFTER the price cut - the PS3 manages to sell 40k in a week. And that won't last. And you think it will sell 100k+/week for FOUR weeks straight?

I'll be honestly surprised if it gets to 200k.

People who WANT PS3 games - ALREADY HAVE A PS3. There will be about 2m PS3's in the US by the time those games hit.

And...

a) Forklore - better hope it has more impact than it did in Japan.

b) HSG5 - has this ever been a hardware pusher - in the US?? The Wii now owns the golf genre.

c) GTA, CoD, NFS - all cross platform titles. MS will push/promote the hell out of GTA. I expect 1/3rd-1/4th of sales to be for the PS3. People who buy a console for the game - will primarily buy a 360 (cheaper). And this is roughly when the 360 gets a surprise price cut - along with Halo3 release.

That leaves HOME & R&C. I'll wait for reviews on R&C, but initial impressions show it to be a very pretty PS2 -port title. As for HOME... if people want to buy a PS3 to "play" HOME - good luck to them ;)

So I'll say it again - 200k for October - not 400k. The "price cut" may even have worn off by then, might be back to $599 bundles...

400k is overly ambitious in my opinion. I believe in the power of positive thinking, but wow that's a stark number to be aiming for.

For what it's worth, I recently bought a PS3 as I sold some books on ebay and got more than I had anticipated. Thus I had the money, and the price drop hit, so I was in the market for one. 360, having the worst quality percentage for a console in history thus far, was the biggest seller for me to buy a PS3.

I didn't buy it for any current game out as I actually just got a Blockbuster game pass for both my Wii and PS3. Although, I would love to have VF5 but the online only for Live saddens me some.

More or less it was just a big investment for future games, even if PS3 ends up dead last in the console race : Dreamcast, while last, had some of the best games I've ever played since I've been gaming. I think at worst PS3 has the potential to be another Dreamcast, which is far from bad in my opinion.

30k a week sounds pretty reasonable. Growing game library will definitely help but I expect most people wait for exclusives like Lair and HS. Anyway situation looks definitely brighter right now. Sony should exceed 350k a month (WW) soon. Definitely PS3 will outsell X360 in July (price drop USA, bundle EU, HSG5 JP).

 well thats why he said his interest..its his opinion. but my opinion is pretty much the same...im gonna put the ps3 away until feb 2008....for now, im gonna play some wii.
