Either of those situations could look reversed because of Sony's huge levels of bundling that has been applied to EVERY SINGLE high selling title on the console except Assassin's Creed and CoD4.
You don't have to say it... you can just put "starcraft's opinion here"

We know you are going to say the 360 exclusives are better then the PS3 exclusives...

Duh
Nope.  Just that without artificial assistance the titles with the more established history and bigger userbase will sell better.

"If you think so than you are wrong. First Resistance & Motorstorm bundle was introduced in around 5th month of PS3 life in Europe. It didn't last that long and didn't move too many games. Going by VGChartz Resistance didn't sell more than 150k in that timeframe.

The second bundle was introduced with 40GB debut as a fire sale bundle for 60 GB model. Bundle costed 500 euro and was quite successful but didn't last too long as 60GB stock depleted quickly. It didn't sell more than 200k.

You can look how Resistance sold here:
http://vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=Others&game1=Resistance%3A+Fall+of+Man+-+PS3®2=Others&game2=®3=Others&game3=&weeks=60&weekly=1

Basically official Resistance bundles didn't contribute more than 10% of Res sales WW."

AT MOST.

Damn.

Star-pwnt.

Er....right.

As fine and dandy as Final-Fan's post is, it does NOTHING to negate my arguement, which is simply (and clearly stated) that standalone, Gears will beat Resistance, and Fable 2 will beat LBP.

You following me around going "hehehe pawned" doesn't make it so Dmeister.  Try contributing to conversation.

LBP vs. F2

Edge: LittleBigPlanet. Simply because of the amount of marketing going behind it. Both titles have the potential to be big hits, but the mother company's backing of LBP, I think, will be the determining factor.

R2 vs. G2

Edge: Gears of War 2. The install base in America, I believe, will dictate how this battle goes. The difference between the 360 and the PS3 in that region that loves its shooters is simply too large.

Talking strictly sales: Little Big Planet & Gears 2.

Little Big Planet is a hype machine. Of the 2, I'd much rather play Fable 2. I know I'm going to like Fable and I don't think I'd be the least bit interested in making my own maps and playing friends' maps (going to be a lot of bad maps).  I could easily be wrong. But I'm a big RPG fan.

Little Big Planet has a much broader audience.

As for which game will have more of a hardcore following - Fable 2 should be pretty good.  Just a couple more weeks and I won't have to speculate any more

Gears 2 simply because 1 was brilliant and it looks like they've improved upon what they started with.  If you haven't seen all, or at least most, of the videos for Gears, go look them up right now.  Be near a toilet though because you will chit yourself with how jaw-dropping it looks.

Just imagine it on a 46" screen. I know I am

Despite a healthy reluctance to tell someone what he said, your post clearly makes three assertions, not one:
(1) "Standalone Gears 2 will beat Resistance 2 and Fable 2 will beat LBP." (What you say you said)
(2) "Either of those situations could look reversed" (i.e. R2 and LBP sell more total units than GeoW2 and F2, respectively)
(3) "huge levels of bundling [have] been applied to EVERY SINGLE high selling title on the console except Assassin's Creed and CoD4." (This is the point I rebutted)

Unless you think that less than 10% of a game's sales equals "MASSIVE BUNDLING OMG" then I have successfully proven your third assertion wrong by way of counterexamples.  I didn't think I had to spell out which of your points I was rebutting since my (kamil's) post was only relevant to that one point, but hey, everyone has slow days.

Gear2 and Fable 2 will outsell the competition by 2-1 I predict!

That's not going to happen.  I doubt that even first week sales, which I expect to favor the 360 by a large margin, will be that extreme.

Gears 2 will outsell Resistance 2 by a lot. Gears sold well because it was an actual good game, Resistance sold well because there was nothing else at the time.

I basically agree with this. However, Resistance 2 is looking to be MUCH better than the first, so I think it'll will pull a Call of Duty 4 (as in excellent sales because it's a damn good game, rather than mediocre sales like that of it's predecessor).

Gears will obviously destroy it in sales, but I could see Resistance passing the 3.5 million mark when all is said and done.

...unless Killzone 2 ends up kicking serious ass (and based on my time with the beta, I think it will), thus curbing Resistance's sales mere months after release.  Then again, Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 managed to sell just fine on the 360 last year, despite competing for the same market.

I ask you, how do franchises get big and become established in the first place?

Just because LBP is a new IP doesn't preclude it from becoming the next Animal Crossing or something similar.

@starcraft - You will be glad to know that GeoW2 is being bundled as well.

Also, there's the fact that Fallout 3 on PS3 commits the deadly sin of having no trophies. This will probably cause on-the-fence people to not buy it, or at least wait until trophies are introduced.

The only people on the fence are people with both consoles. PS3 fans have no other choice at the moment. I personally didn’t get it for either console; I got it for the PC, as I did with FarCry 2.

I have preordered all 6 of these games (lbp, Fallout 3, Fable 2, Gears 2, Farcry 2, and Resistance 2). It’s going to be an expensive 8 days :p

You have misunderstood me. I don't mean those on-the-fence people, I mean people with only a PS3 who cannot afford all of the incredible games of the next few months, who can only pick a few. As FO3 has no trophies, people will put it low down on wishlists.

If somebody has been waiting years for this game, the lack of trophies won't make a difference. But for people like me, it will. You'd be amazed how much some people (including me) care about some pretty pixels...

LBP or Fable 2? uh... tough one. WRPG's have sold very well on the 360 (oblivion and ME both close or above 2 million). LBP will be backed up by marketing but platformers aren't fashionable anymore. I'll chicken out of this one =D
