Forums - Sony Discussion - 360 just RROD'd, I see it's time to expand my PS3 library

Right now, I own the following games:

The Orange Box

Warhawk

Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction

Metal Gear Solid 4

Resistance: Fall of Man

I have had the PS3 for 10 months, and I must agree that have been neglecting the system (I went about 2 months without turning on). But I've recently brought Resistance, which only costed me 20 dollars, so I throughly plan on buying some games on it. SUGGESTIONS NEEDED. I'd appreciate the help.

Sorry on your Red Ring. Here are a few suggestions from my PS3 collection:

Full retail:
Uncharted (Great game, little short, highly replayable; especially now with trophies)
Folklore (I personally really liked the story and style though the gameplay can feel repetitive)
Devil May Cry 4 (If you've played the others [especially 1 & 3] you'll now what to expect; if not its a great action game)
Soul Calibur 4 (Fun fighting engine, good character creator, online play)
Heavenly Sword (Good polished game but short and in my opinion not very replayable)

Downloads:
WipeOut HD (Its a steal at $20)
PixelJunk Monsters and Eden (Lots of gameplay for $10 a piece)
Everyday Shooter (Plays very close to Geometry Wars, but with more unique combo/chain system and has a killer audio/visual style)
echochrome (Good puzzle and has user generated content)

You don't own Uncharted? :O

You MUST get that. Heavenly Sword is fun as well, though it's really short, so I'd wait until it goes Greatest Hits and pick it up for $30.

i heard uncharted and heavenly sword are good games.

order little big planet and resistance 2 :P

Yeah, DJD, I almost had the 360 for two years without the RROD ...

DMC4, well, I do own DMC 1 and 3, but truth is, I've just never been good at all in the games, and I end up just quitting gaming sessions and they collect dust.

Uncharted, I've played the demo, and I did enjoy it. I'll consider buying that. Oh, and isn't it about a year old, shouldn't it be receiving a price cut any time soon?

Fighting game definitely isn't my thing, unless they're overly simplistic and easy to master like anime fighting series. I'm not sure SC4 fits that description.

Does the PS3 have any decent RPGs? =\

Uncharted!!!!!

Get Super Stardust HD, Everyday shooter and Wipeout HD from the PSN. All cheap and all great. Pixeljunk monsters is also fun. Not sure what you own on the 360, but for exclusives, try Uncharted (platinum range=cheap here in europe, not sure about the us). Little big planet is also just two weeks away, hopefully it should be great!

hello cheat101

theres a plethora of titles that you can buy.

i would have a rumidge round other ps3 users to see what games they have in thier collection, everyone is different but will give u an idea of what people play.

the upcoming months is perfect to upgrade your library

on my radar is upcoming.....

  • socom confrontation
  • little big planet
  • resistance 2
  • motorstorm 2
  • valkyere chronicles

make sure you pick up uncharted, ratchet clank and heavenly sword, i swear heavenly sword is a 9/10 game right till end, unfortunatly theres not much to go back once completed, some of the choreography in the cut scenes is staggering

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Uncharted is almost a year old, but to my knowledge (someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong) is not currently under the "Greatest Hits" lineup, hence it is still full price.

Folklore is kind of an action RPG, but even at that the RPG elements (in my opinion) are very light. The two characters you play level up, but that really just means you get an increase in health. Ellen (the female playable character) gets different cloaks (read: armor) that have a few status effect changes. The "folks" that each character collect also level up by defeating certain other folks or collecting a certain number of items, etc. At one time there was a demo of Folklore on the PlayStation Store and I as recall gave a very good impression of the gameplay and story overall. The only thing it lacked was the ability to explore the hub town, I believe. The game also features a fair amount of downloadable content should you really take to the game.

I believe Eternal Sonata sometime this month. Its more of a traditional JRPG, I think there is a demo for the this one as well. The only other RPG I can think of at the moment is Enchanted Arms (an Xbox360 port) though I have never played it.

hmmm....youve already got the only retail game i would recommend...so perhaps you could try R&C Quest For Booty if you enjoyed Tools of Destruction
