Actually, after reading the article, and seeing that his first day of work was back in February, I think it's Zelda. I mean, imagine a guy coming in to his first day of work at Nintendo, and they're like "Hey, go work on Zelda"

Sounds like the deep end to me.

"Wow, are you serious? I just got here and you put me on ZELDA?"

"Yeah, I'm not joking."

"Ooookay"

He works in a translating division.

Maybe I should add that to the OP.

The chances of them getting a newcomer, IN AMERICA, to work on the brand new Zelda are ZEEEEEEEEEEROOOOOOOO.

Uh, yeah. You're not very attentive are you? As you yourself said, translating division. What, you think Zelda games just pop into the disc drive and the console itself magically translates all the text?

He isn't going to be working on translating a game that hasn't been made yet, unless Nintendo have got EAD working on the game with English being at the forefront of their mind. I wouldn't be too sure of the likely-hood of that being the case.

No need for all the defensiveness.

Zelda meets Final Fantasy

Think for yourself, question authority

They're working on it. It wouldn't be surprising if they had the dialogue ready before the game was all done. I honestly think the reaction fits perfectly to a project of that magnitude.

Check your own post, bub, you weren't all that light on the defense either with all the caps and vowel elongations and what not :p

Probably the english translation of Halo 3.

I'm getting excited now.

Thats what she said. But seriously, I hope its a new IP. Getting a little tired of the repeats every generation.

HE is working, translating the manuals on how to clean the new Gold Toilets at Nintendo Offices.

Haha, fair do's fair do's.

I'm just saying, the chance of them doing a number of languages for the game at this stage are really slim (Nah, Nintendo would never give america and the europeans zelda at the same time as Japan. Ridiculous). A more likely project to get a "Are you serious!?" response, from a translator, would be a translation of something no one thought was coming. Mother.

You're forgetting that it's been 10 months. Considering we know very well that Mother 3, as in the game itself, is complete, I severely doubt it'd take 10 months to translate. Especially considering the easy dialogue in it (all hiragana). I know japanese myself, and I can tell you that it would never take that long. Also, you forget that Mother is far from a major franchise. A lot of people would probably react "What's this?"
