Forums - Sony Discussion - Poll: Are you going to buy a PSP Lite?

Well in that case....damn, I really want to like the PSP, I really do, but I'll be damned if I'm buying a handheld with load times, especially PSP style loooonnngggg load times.

Well, if the load times are reduced significantly, and I mean nearly eliminated....maybe, I really want to play Dracula X.

Tretton said in an interview with Kotaku later that load times of old games (which let me tell you can be horrendous) haven't been reduced at all by the redesign, and there is actually only a CHANCE that future games will have their load times reduced.  In other words; that part of the conference was complete BS.

Being that the RAM is doubled. Im sure that the games are run a bit faster.

I sort of noticed that. They upped the RAM from 32MB to 64MB - but unless the code KNOWS to look for more RAM than expected (and its easily addressable) - it won't make any difference.

New games can use the extra RAM - but only as cache (can't rely on it). Can't have games working on the updated PSP, but not the old one... now can we ;)

...

Also surprised by the battery. It actually has the SAME battery life as the old model - but with a lower amphour battery? Not exactly sure what the point is - but they can upgrade the battery later.

The NEW,smaller battery has the same life. The older battery, which is in PSP's now, will extend the battery life.

Already got one a month since the JP release and no need to get a second or are sound, battery life and light of screen much improved?

Maybe ,for the time being my current PSP with its 4Gb memory stick and its great library of games serve me well .

Have had a PSP since day one and will be buying all packs in Amercica. I will give my old PSP to my dad and rotate with the new three. I am not worried about load times, because Daxter, God of War, and FF all don't have any load times at all, and they are the games I like the most. One game I really wanrt on PSP is Gran Turismo, if it came out I would play PSP 10 times as much as I do now (Only play it about 2 hours a week, way to much time playing PS3 right now, and been watching movies, and TV on PSP at work).
