^That

And probably the same reason PSP version of FIFA outsells DS version time after time...heck are they even making a DS version anymore? *Goes to look, ah page 2* Majority of people who own them just don't want those types of game. No mum of 2 who owns a DS for herself and Brain Training is going to buy it after all.

Hmm, pie.

Well i dont think Sports games on the Wii do that bad, they do sell considerably well (just not as well as the 360 version)

Pro evolution soccer 08, sold extrmely well, considering it's late release compared to other versions, and being extremely late in the season (this was a factor).

Madden 08 sold nearly as good as the PS3 version, and Madden 09 should sell more then 08 version (it proves to have great legs).

Tiger Woods 09 will easily sell a milion copies.

Fifa 08 also sold well

So i dont really know how can you say Sports games FAIL on the wii, they maybe not as successful as on other platforms but they certainly are not failing.

ps. PES 08 was brilliant on the Wii, with some minor improvments the 09 version could be the best football game ever made.

Considering the wii's demographic, it should not come as a surprise that most sports games sell less on the wii.

Nearly all of these sports games on the Wii are guilty of one or more of the following points:

1. Inferior to the PS2/PS3/360 version in one way or another.
2. Not released at the same time as the PS2/PS3/360 version.
3. Having an "All Play" logo on the box which many people possibly interpret as "this version of the game is probably for idiots".

i have a feeling 3 has hurt madden wii indefinitely

Here's another possibility (It doesn't explain all of it but it might be a factor). Perhaps there is more serious competition from casual sports games on the Wii. Check out the Wii top 50. It's dominated by sports games! Do you think all 360 owners are hard core? Maybe some of them would be peeled off to buy casual motion controlled sports games if they had the option.

Also, a note about legs. Pro evo 2008 sold more this week on the Wii than the other consoles. Check it out.

depends which games you ask about. Tiger Woods is doing very well on the Wii. Fifa and any other soccer games never held any interest for me, and Im sure I'm not alone in this. If you round it up, sports based videogames are kind of dull overall, unless you're a huge fan of the sport. It all depends on where those sports fanatics migrate to console-wise. Nintendo systems have never really been known to have a sports oriented userbase, excluding Wii Sports of course. Nintendo have always been about platformer and adventure games, and more recently pokemon style games.

Why? Simple: because the insecure adolescent males who make up the 'pro sports' demographic consider motion controls to be 'undignified.'

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

Who really cares if they sell less when the sports games that actually get a bit of effort are still going to cross the million mark?

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
