Forums - Sales Discussion - My little experience in a EB games

Years ago I was shopping at EBgames and I overheard a father trying to buy a Gamecube for his son because he desperately wanted to play Zelda and Mario; the store clerk advised him to buy a PS2 because Zelda and Mario were becomming PS2 exclusive titles in their next iterations.

The general problem with people in retail (in particular locally, where we have a really strong job market) is stores generally only have people apply to them who can't get jobs elsewhere which generally results in people who are not very knowlegeable and/or people who give very poor customer service.

NOOOOOOOOOO LOL this is too hilarous and quite pathetic at the same time. I though EB games and store like that were hiring gamers with a lot of knowledge, but now I realize that I was wrong.

That does not surprise me at all. Most of the Gamestop employees that I have talked to are 360/PS3 owners and fans. They have no knowledge or experience outside of they systems they own and play, and will go to extreme ends to push their opinions on other people. There are a few employees who are knowledgeable and non-biased, but they are few and far between. (sounds a lot like VgChartz, doesn't it? )

Most threads that I click on that are posts of that size or larger, I normally get through 2 sentences before I decide that the post isn't good enough for me to spend the time to read the whole thing..

Kudos..I found this amusing. The employees at the local GameStop here prefer X360, but they're surprisingly unbiased and often say how good they think games of other consoles will be.

When I went to Gamestop to look at a DS, the sales person could not stop trying to convince me to get a PSP. I told him that I was looking for a portable system for playing puzzle/adventure/RPG games, the sales person could not stop talking about how much better the PSP was for those games. He had one himself, and it was much better than the DS. Good thing I knew better.

What surprise me the most is the size of the PSP section vs. DS section. The PSP section is as large as DS section even if DS does have 5 times more games on the shelves. This configuration is resulting in having half empty PSP shelves and overloaded DS shelves.

Hotel Dusk is a pretty good choice, that EB employee is either an idiot or a fanboy.

-=Dew the disco dancing fo da Unco Graham=-

people should know what type of games there going buy before entering Gamestop. Usually I say, "Im just looking" then they will leave you alone.

EB ?Games and Gamestop employes - a 360 fan boys it happens to me too and with som many others just loooks at so many treads about this in other web sites forums.

Videogame salesman are usually biased ...

Here in Spain theres this chain Game (that has an agreement with MS) and the salesman are always trying to impose the 360 as the best solution.

But I have heard others and its always the same ..."the consoles are the same and do the same but the 360 is cheaper".Then sometimes you enter the conversationa and explain the customer that the PS3 has Blu Ray and the 360 doesnt ,that the 360 has online fees monthly and the PS3 doesnt and that the the PS3 has wifi and with the 360 they should wire the house and they take the PS3 ....but the salesmans always refuse to talk these points.
