Forums - Gaming Discussion - tales of 7 defective x360s

we do know that x360 suffers heavily due to overheating but this comes from KOTAKU .........a site that has been known as a good MS supporter!!!!!!!!!!!! unusual but true http://kotaku.com/gaming/360/a-tale-of-seven-dead-360s-238945.php

Yeah my friend who got one of the 1st releases has replaced it twice now. I bought one for my brothers this xmas with GoW and Madden, and most importantly the 3rd party fan that attaches to the 360 big ass. Glad I got a Wii. Unlike the other guys, Nintendo has never had a massive breakdown of hardware. I am actually surprised that the PS3 hasn't had any major issues yet. The PS1 and PS2 did, so I assumed so would the PS3, but, seems like they actually put a lot of effort into this one. Probably because all the crap MS got for its firebox.

Most likely problems with the PS3 would come from the Blu-Ray function...and they worked hard and delayed production to get it right...so it seems to be good for now. I am always happy with Nintendo for their quality hardware though. Dunno how they do it, but they make a machine like the Wii that runs on 1/2 the power of my desk lamp and they never have any big problems with their consoles. My DS had a dead pixel, so I got a new one for free within a short amount of time. Good service.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Well I dont think 7 systems on 4 machins is that much when I have heard of people which have gotten 4 replacement on 1 system :) And yes microsoft needs to update the system.

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

If you are referring to The Intercooler take it off your 360. It leeches power from the system and actually cause your 360 to burnout faster. Unless they come out with a Intercooler that runs off of the USB port, I'm staying away from it.

its not because of that........according to NAMCO idolmaster chokes up 80% of x360's total processing power. It has to do with hardware. You are not talking CELL and ps3!!!! you are talking about inferior x360 with a watered down processor

Wow, 7 is a lot. I did have a coworker who went through 5 PS2s in the course of the first 10 months of the console's release.

I am sorry. I am a PS3 thumper. but Holy crap. Your just as bad as these Wii guys. WTF is the point of that post? You dont need to attack the 360. Holy crap. It has enough problems of it's own to deal with. It dont need Sony guys attacking it. It has already failed in japan, failING in Europe, and being met with mild success in america. However the PS3 dosent have it's games yet. Wait another... 40days. Then let's see how the PS3 sales are in April. Then... IF the ps3 is still faling compared to the 360 in america. THEN you can attack the 360 and start BS attacking it.

Every system has had complaints from purchasers that they've died. Yes, the 360 has a few more complaints, but it's also sold 2x the # of systems. I hate everyone that rags on the 360s. MS extended the warranty to 1 year, and is replacing launch units for free. That's pretty dang good. Atleast MS didn't make about 3 million Wii Straps defunctional. I sincerely doubt that IdolM@ster takes up 80% of the processing power. Epic (devs of GoW) said that GoW barely scratched the surface of what the 360 can do. If the PS3 is so much superior to the 360, how come devs constantly say they are both neck and neck, expecially when they are developing the same game for both systems? Just for note, I own a LAUNCH 360. Purchased 11/22/2005 at 7am. I have played over 80 games on it, with a gamerscore of 28k (not very high but enough to prove I've played for quite some time). I have totaled atleast 2,000 hours of gaming on my machine. I have never sent mine in for repairs. I have never had rings of death (unless I had the S-video cables unplugged, or something stupid). My 360 has frozen up about a dozen times in the past YEAR and two months. Mostly from Oblivion (which I've put no less than 1000 hours on, if not more) People keep dogging the 360, but here are the facts: It has the best library of any system ever made this far into it's lifecycle. I've been playing games and have owned consoles for the past 15 years from every major H/W maker. Never have I seen a system with such great games. You can bash it's sales all you want, but when it's software has consistently outsold every other system, and has had the highest tier ratio of all next gen systems (launched at a tier ratio of 3, versus Wii's 2.1 even w/ the free game, and PS3 at a wonky 1.5). Zelda TP is great, Resistance is fine, but by November 2006, the 360 has had a far superior library, and will continue to have improved library titles, even better than either compeditior. And once it drops its price $100, and introduces a IPTV deal with AT&T, even VG charts bashers won't be able to handle the 360s succuess (even if its just in the US)

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
