If I could make one suggestion since you're working on the site, can we have an option to hit reply or edit and not use Rich Text Reply? I *really* hate all the auto-formatting it does, especially the backspace and forcing a blank line on a new line.

There's nothing wrong with the rich text you just need to learn how to use it!

You can reply at the bottom of a thread if you want to avoid doing any formatting.

I'm not sure what the backspace thing is, but if you want to add a new line without a blank line then you want shift+enter

I didn't know about the shift enter thing.  The backspace thing is when you're just pressing backspace multiple times to delete a word.  When you backspace the last letter it automatically backspaces the space before the word.  It also doesn't seem to happen every time (or I got when it happens wrong) since it's something I can never reproduce on purpose, only when I'm actually typing a post.  Actually, typing this and trying it, I sound a bit crazy now but I know it happens, it happens to me all the time! :-p

As for using the the box at the bottom of the screen, I usually do except for when I quote and edit.

There's also the quote boxes.  They are a pain to edit if you only want a certain part of a quote or want to delete some of the not needed nested quotes.  I have a much easier time just using the quote tags.

No, THE RICH TEXT EDITOR IS BADLY BROKEN. I don't know of any better way to say it.  It's already been said in multiple threads by multiple people, but here we go again:

twestern pointed out the backspace issue, which is inconsistent -- sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. You can't grow to expect it, because you never know whether or not it's going to happen! It's not a "feature" either, since no other editor I've ever used works that way. If I want to delete the space, I will press backspace again. It's not just the extra space either -- sometimes you have an extra space, you go to backspace it, and it erases your period at the end of the sentence. This stuff is really irritating.

And why must it insert an extra space when I press down rapidly to get to the end of my post? If I want to indent my next paragraph, I'll space over a few times. Who indents ONE space anyway?

I'll put it this way, and this isn't a cheap shot at the site (which is fantastic overall), it's just how I feel: I'd rather use a plaintext editor that works than a buggy rich text editor.

Also, I'm not saying et rid of the Rich Text Reply, I would just like the option to turn off all the auto editing it does.

--Nevermin, shift+enter seem to work for me now, I probably just didn't do it right earlier-- >_<

your not crazy twestern, and if you are, i'm sure the Rich Text Editor drove you to it!! The auto whitespace editing (inserting/deleting spaces, not end-line/paragraph) of the Rich Text Reply has to be the most iritating thing ever. I also hate how when you hit backspace, sometimes it decides it wants to delete the whole word. Some text editors (like the old yahoo one) alowed you to either use html or rich text editor with a selection right on the compose e-mail page. It would be great if we had something like that.

"started by" who is a great thing to know!

please make fonts bigger...

the Wii is an epidemic.

I liked the last poster vs started by on the thread. This way I know if someone responded after I did from a quick glance at the front page.

I 2nd the look of the links, they do look way to close to the google add links. They kinda run together with the news.

All in all, really nice changes ioi, keep up the good work.

Wow, with ABP I didn't even notice the similarity to the Google Ad links, since I never see them anyway. I think it still looks ok though, maybe just throw in a small buffer so you can easily tell them apart. The Google Ad links are smaller and spaced further, so it's not too homogenized IMO.

Cool beans, ioi. I think the look is better. And am I crazy or have the pages been loading a bit faster since the update(aside from the normal "crawl" from the traffic on chart day)?

"I feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself."

I like the new style ioi, but there is one thing that bothers me:

Sometimes in the forum the advertisement is not separated from the post above it. Just looks like its part of the post of someone. A little annoying for me.

Google adds are done fine (They are separated), the "Flash an picture" ads are however not, or at least not all the time.
